as cool as this game looks to be, I dont have a xbox360, and IM pretty sure my wife would divorce me if I bought one since I just blew $600 for a PS3 less than a month ago. :(

besides, all thee stories about the red rings of death scare me.

Yea thats fine, I personally don't enjoy Halo enough to buy it full price. I bought HALO 1 for like 8 bucks.. HALO 2 for 18. So I am not going to spend $70 on HALO 3. Single player blows, and online is badass but not good enough to buy it at full price.

GOW, now that is fun online... along wit battlefield and FEAR.

halo 3 has the best in-game graphics in all the games I've played. It's unbelievably good. I played bioshock before getting halo and I thought bioshock's graphics would be really tough to beat ... well, halo 3 beats it by a comfortable margin.

i played the game on a 42-inch LCD screen at 1080i resolution, and it looked just like an animated movie. the natural scenery is just so beautiful. the water actually looks like water.

the battle system of halo 3 is almost identical to halo 2, and the game play is almost the same as halo 2. the biggest difference in terms of the game play was the huge enhancement of the grunts -- they are much much more aggressive and tougher to kill. the jackals also seem to be tougher to kill, and similar to halo 2, they can kill you with a single sniper shot on legendary. the brutes actually have shields now.

i'm a bit puzzled by the fact that the players now still have to fight the grunts -- since halo 2 gave the impression that they were allied with the elites against the brutes and the prophets.

the toughest enemy i've fought so far are the brute alpha primes -- each of them has a huge energy shield and a gravity hammer. the hammer kills everything within a radius of 3-5 meters, and you cannot dodge it by jumping. it's almost impossible to kill a brute alpha prime in close combat because their shields would last a lot longer than all your weapons could damage, so you should always use sniping weapons to take them out before they run at you with the hammer.

You start the game fighting along side the Arbiter -- he cannot be killed, it was so funny to see him getting blown up then jumping up 10 seconds later like nothing's ever happened.

i got the game at the midnight launch ... there was this guy who came to trade his xbox for an xbox 360, he went up to the counter and said to the shop attendant "hi, I'd like to trade my xbox for a sexbox!" ... it was all i could do to stop myself from rolling on the ground laughing.

After getting my brand new 360 stolen last year, I finally decided to get another one just in time for this game. I even saved hundreds of dollars by getting it from a friend who had bought another one after his redlight biznaz.

Unfortunately, I have to get it fixed before I can play anything. Actually, I have to wait for Microsoft to send the box with postage (5-7 business days), and THEN wait 3-4 weeks until they send it back repaired... :( :(

So... is Halo 3 any fun?

I'm actually one of the rare people who never really played it online but enjoy the single player. I guess I'll give it a try when I play it in a MONTH AND A HALF. <sigh>

Also looking forward to NBA 2K8 and the Simpsons game.

Really? Better than Bioshock by a comfortable margin? I find that hard to believe based on the videos I have seen of both games (and the demo for Bioshock that I played). I'll guess I'll find out later on today.

Gears of War graphics > every other game's graphics. Halo 3 doesn't even come close. That being said, Halo 3's multiplayer is lightyears ahead of GOW. Played a few rounds last night, lotsa fun.

I heard GOW's graphics are very overrated. They use shading and some other things to make them look good but they actually suck. Nothing beats Bioshock IMO.

Man, shading is the core part of any game, there isn't a 3D shoot'em up game that doesn't use shading ... it's like saying air consists of gas.

halo 3 does ... pretty comfortably.

That's interesting since I was just hearing that the graphics were among the weaker points of Halo 3 and Bioshock's graphics were considered better. That's good news to me because Bioshock had some great graphics.

I've been readin about the game on several game message boards and not a single person has said that the HALO 3 graphics are superior to any other game on the 360. Everyone says the graphics are just ok.

i don't know. IMHO, BioShocks graphics are marginally better. Just so much detail in that game. The art direction behind BioShock is like nothing I've seen in a game before. Very imaginative. I was actually dissapointed with Halo 3's graphics. Doesn't mean they're bad at all, just expected more from a game with so much hype.

they are very good, but don't judge the game on just graphics, the action is intense and the sound is amazing. the artwork of halo 3 is great, i'm only on the 1st level, lots of detail. much better lighting efx in halo 3 than any other game.

Here is what IGN has to say about the graphics:

Picking up the game this afternoon...not sure how I can fit online Halo and online Madden into my schedule. Gonna be a tough few months.

people should actually play the game before criticizing it
(playing the game = playing it in HDTV with Digital Surround Sound)

also, to certain 'players' you know who you are, if you say you are going to beat me at STREET FIGHTER and when I send you an INVITE on XBOX LIVE and it won't let you play, it makes sense that you ACTUALLY BUY THE GAME TO PLAY IT. Also if you play STREET FIGHTER and DON'T BUY IT cause you need to READ REVIEWS, then you really don't play STREET FIGHTER.
yes I have an arcade stick for the 360, so don't come knocking if you can't throw a fireball or dragon punch.

Read a review on Street Fighter? you kidding me dude??!!! There's a dude name Ryu and he has to beat Bison to win the game. there you have it.

back to Halo 3. I haven't play multiplayer on yet, but the campaign on heroic is pretty good. you have snipers, dudes throwing nades at you. its pretty strong.

Um ... Bioshock's graphics is very good, but a lot of it is lost in the rather dark background. I'm very impressed by the flames of bioshock though.
