Well we could always call you guys the "euroleague" scrubs of first person shooters. Feel free to not read away. LOL

Oh BTW. I own a console system...a PS3 to be precise. So I'm not in it to just hate on consoles. I stated an opinion that obviously you struggle with allowing others to have. This seems to be a recurring gripe about you on these boards. Seems you need to learn to keep your pie hole shut sometimes. Good day to you sir!

You are more than welcome to your opinion in this forum, after all it's not the D&D. ;)

I would call a well timed grenade followed by some close range AR fire good planning, not sloppy killing.

The AR is a very good close to medium ranged weapon that has a bit less ammo than you need to get a medium range kill with one clip, by design. At close range, it will get pwned by a shotgun unless you get the drop on the subject and keep a bit of distance.

All in all, the AR is the perfect starting weapon. It can be used effectively in many different circumstances, but its relatively low utility leads one to find a weapon that better suits the style of play of the player in question.

Well, I wouldn't necessarily call rockets a "precision" weapon exactly, unless you get a triple kill or better with one rocket, but I am a precision guy too, for the most part. The weapon I have gotten the most kills with in ranked play is the sniper (partially because of the high number of shotty snipe gametypes), but in social matches, I have gotten 25% more kills wth the AR than the next highest tool of destruction.

    Agreed.

I LOVE the new snipe. It rewards players who are patient and wait for the clean headshot instead of the first guy who squeezes off a round.

Use more grenades and melee during your attacks. My k/d ratio is over 1.5 on each playlist as a result of preceding weapon attacks with grenades or following them with melees.

    Alienware!? HA! NOOB!

    ;)

BTW, I for one like how the consoles are becoming more modern. It makes for even more cross-platform games. Some games already out there where PC gamers can play console gamers. Although, I remember reading somewhere that they had to do something with the aiming because a mouse is MUCH more precise than a joystick.

I love the 360....for football etc. Can't stand fps's on it, but all the story related games like gta...etc pwn on it.

What I don't understand is why Microsoft hasn't just gone ahead and come out with a wireless mouse/keyboard combo thing that works on the 360..

Maybe something like the Nostromo for the movement/selection hand, and a wireless laser mouse for looking and shooting, and a few other buttons for other things too.. the hardware should be able to handle it.. especially taking into consideration the still-amazing rock-solid nature of the 360's wireless controller scheme.

I have played plenty of FPS games on consoles, and as long as there are two analog sticks, it works REASONABLY well. However, no matter how much they improve it, using an analog stick to control where you look will NEVER be as responsive as using a mouse. NEVER. Because the speed of the movement is arbitrary, unlike a mouse, which allows you to look and aim in any direction as quickly and as accurately as you can manage.

This is not to condemn console FPS's - far from it. It just is what it is.

If you were to take a game that was equal in every way on a console and a PC, except for the controller scheme, and you took the best console-controller FPS player you ever saw, and pitted him against even a medium-skilled FPS PC player, the one using the mouse would wipe the floor with the console controller guy every time.

There are some good things which have come from the console FPS genre - namely, the streamlining of the interface through necessity, as there is no keyboard, so the developer cannot require you to have to manage 40 different keys in order to become good at the game.

It's a completely different skillset, but there is no question that the keyboard/mouse configuration is superior in terms of control, precision, and speed. That said, the Halo series has about the best 'feel' for a console FPS that I have played. It works far better than I would have ever thought, after years and years of PC FPS's.

I am not going to jump into H3 multiplayer until I finish the solo game.. just got to the Ark and killed the 'Truth', and now the flood has turned on me again.. don't know how much further ti goes, but multiplayer will be coming pretty soon.. we'll need to do a ClutchFans Gang or something, pwn all those kiddies out there.. ;)

Yes, and that would be the guy who runs into the Halo 3 thread to declare how it sucks because it's not on PC, how awesome his gaming rig is and how he pwns all the rest of the PC shooter kids because of his pwnership wiht a mouse keyboard set up.

It's partially a branding issue. THe more they make it like a PC, the more the products blur. Plus most people don't play hteir 360 at a desk (a lot of us sit at desks all day in front of a computer, no need to do it at home). Finally and most importantly, part of the fun of XBL is that the playing field is really level between most players and that de-levels it. Now I suppose for hardcore PC Shooter jockeys this is painful but c'est la vie.

Firing a real gun will never be as responsive as using a mouse either.

Your slipping Sammy. If you cant decipher that I was not trashing Halo 3 as much as I was propping UT then I cant help you. I was not trashing Halo because it was not on PC, I was giving my opinion, in what I perceived was an innocent enough a jab, that UT was the cooler game. As for my "pwnership"...kinda funny you want to rib me in a way to make me seem nerdy about my level of skill on a video game, when you are spending hours playing the same video games. I don't know man, your hypocrisy is abounding.
