I had tons of kids in the neighborhood last night. I did notice an abundance of teen-age trick or treaters too. I had some non-English speaking kids that just held up their bags and said "trick'e trick'e". I also had several parents filming me giving out candy to their kids. Plenty of cute kids with great costumes. My kids had a blast too. It reminded me of the old times when I was a young kid, dressed up as Ace Freeley, wrapped in aluminum foil. Me and my three brothers Gene, Paul, Peter would walk around trick or treating until 830pm. Good time’s man. :(

Our neighborhood is packed with Trick or Treaters, I live on a loop and I take my kids around the loop and hit all the houses.

Most of the neighbors sit on the porch or out in the driveway dishing out candy.

We had one guy who has his garage open as a haunted garage, and you have to enter to get candy, my 4 year old ran out of there so fast...

    :D

At my house we have the yard decorated and two huge blow ups. One of ghosts in a car and the other a giant skull with spiders on it's head.

My wife and a neighbors wife dress as witches and pass out candy....as the dad's (me and my neighbor) take our kids out trick or treating...been doing it 4 years in a row....

This year was a blast...can't wait until next year.

Still, kids should be going around their neighborhoods on Halloween, not to the mall or church.

Halloween is my favorite holiday by far. It is the only one that is based on nothing but fun. It is sad that it is not what it used to be. I hope it makes a comeback.

We had more kids come do our do this year. It made me feel good. The young kids were just loving it. It was awesome. I

But we did scare one kid to death. My wife was answering the door in one of the Clutch masks they sell at the TC. When she opened the door this little girl saw it and just took off running and crying across the yard. Her dad was cool about it and laughed. We gave the kid some extra candy. But when she left we laughed about 10 minutes straight about it.

I haven't been able to do up Halloween the last few years like l used to do to work and weddings etc. Man I miss it. Next year I want to go bonkers.

I remember the one time that I went trick-or-treating, and I got a packet of lemon juice for some reason. Of course, being in an apartment doesn't help. of course, this is Hong Kong, so not many people celebrate Halloween anyway. Conversely, it's the big companies and corporates who 'celebrate' halloween, Ocean Park and Disney Land are going bonkers on advertising. Somehow Halloween never quite caught on in the East

When I was a kid my dad was a hardcore fan of halloween. He went all out with decorations. He would actually make his own, he would buy wood and cut out tombstones and coffins. Those were the days. I remember running out of candy and running in the backyard to get pecans and we had lots of boxes of raisins. So I ended up mixing pecans and raisins with whatever was left of the candy.

We always bought good candy not the dollar store kind or candy corn. My dad stopped celebrating Halloween after the year he built that coffin and he had this cool setup outside with this scary mask inside the coffin and this flashlight pointing up at its face. He went all out that year and a bunch of people crowded around the coffin and when they left everything inside the coffin was gone. That was back when the streets were packed until 12am with trick or treaters. After that, my dad never did anything for Halloween again.

We only had 4 or 5 last night. We did see a kid dressed up as Buckethead. He looked JUST like him. He had the guitar and everything. My fiancee said "what are YOU supposed to be?" and I said "uh...hello....Buckethead....Guns and Roses..." I gave him a huge handfull of candy just for the effort. :D

I think most of the kids drove over to the rich part of Kingwood (not our neighborhood...) and trick or treated there.

My Mom lives in a really nice neighborhood on the NW side and she said she had about 200 last night. She said there were cars parked all along the streets. I guess all the kids parents drove them to her neighborhood to trick or treat. LOL. Hey, whatever works.

There was a guy on a 4 wheeler down the street following his kids around. He had a little trailer thingy hitched on. Didn't really see the point. He might as well walk with him, lazy b*stard. My little sister gave out candy, we only bought like 4 little bags and there was a crapload left over when I woke up this morning, guess no one came.

I had 20 this year, after having zero last year. I blew through two bags of candy in two hours. I think the nice weather had something to do with having more trick or treaters this year.

A woman who lives two doors down had a huge handwritten sign on her front door....WE ARE NOT HERE TO GIVE OUT CANDY. SEE YOU NEXT YEAR.

Bad karma, IMHO. Just turn all your lights off and go out to dinner for 3 hours.

Because your kids are committed to their responsibilities and friends at church too, eh?

Oh wait... you seem to have neither. Leave the parenting to the parents, and the church to the believers.

It's all about priorities - any year that Halloween does not fall on a Wednesday or Sunday, we roam the streets like any "normal" family...

Albeit, you're not normal... nor Christian, so I don't even understand how you're involved in this conversation, especially as it pertains to me or my family.

I didn't think Buddhists observed blatantly Christian, or Christianized days o'fun.

Just answer the thread question without engaging someone with whom you have no business trying to call out next time, daddy.

There were so MANY kids at a park nearby...

On my street, it was also packed.

It was not like that last year.

    ooo...that's gonna smart...

anyway, I don't decorate my house and I'm not a fan of Halloween at all, but I keep a basket of candy handy if some kids come knocking at the door.

    Meowgi,

I'm surprised that you like Halloween, considering how you have mentioned in the past that you don't care for kids. And after Christmas, Halloween is probably the most kid like holiday out there.

I didn't have many trick or treaters last night. I think it was because it was on a Wednesday night (people were at church) and the fact that my street isn't in a neighborhood. Actually, it's pretty dangerous to go walking on my street at night because there aren't many side roads to turn off on and people drive too fast down it anyway.

I have never been a big fan of Halloween because it always drives my dogs to go nuts. Last night, I had to put up our 10 year old black and white cocker (not Jake if you remember him, he's with my parents now) and she barked the whole night. She can't stand being in a room with the door closed if she knows I am in the house. Then my wife and I paid for this as she spent the whole night wanting to get up on our bed.

But I turned off the outside lights around 8:45. Thankfully, this holiday only comes once a year.

there were a lot more kids than usual this year. funny thing is there semed to be a giant invasion of mexicans from sunset park (i live in park slope, brooklyn) coming to my neighborhood. they definately made off with most of my candy.

That just means most of the candy consisted of mazapans and oranges, otherwise Mexicans don't touch the treats.
