Well, Hallow, all you ClutchGhouls and Ghosts and Witches! This is the 2013 edition of my Jack-O-Lantern thread... as you might remember, we have the [thread=228162]2012[/thread] thread, and here are the editions from before, of all my YEARLY Jack-O-Lanterns threads (one each year on [thread=103818]2005[/thread], [thread=119562]2006[/thread], [thread=156253]2008[/thread], [thread=176242]2009[/thread], [thread=194972]2010[/thread], [thread=210104]2011[/thread] except 2007 ) asking for you to post your own or some you like. Here is where you showcase your patience, artistic skill, or your annoying ways to irritate me in dissing my designs. POST YOUR JACK-O-LANTERNS! I will post this year's sacrificial lambs soon. My daughters and Mrs. SwoLy will choose today. HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!! Thanks to rocketfeva, but... I post either on the day or before... never this early.
You want to use the serrated but pointy carver. Don't use the thinnest one because that is why it bends. Also, make sure to carve out the most possible off the inside so you can get a thinner layer on the side you're cutting. I've learned this the hard way.
Can't show you all the pumpkins yet. I didn't finish. Hopefully we have a dry afternoon so we can put these nice lanterns outside.
^ Ummm... this thread is about JACK-O-Lanterns... not Pumpkin PIE... Check out the GOOGLE DOODLE for today... in the mean time... www.google.com Happy Halloween!
These are great, you are very creative and a true Rockets fan. They must have taken forever to carve. You're a saint and I'm sure you'll go to heaven someday, after a long, prosperous life, filled with joy and happiness. Awesome.
This is the only one I carved this year. I had plans for 2 others, but then a group project and 3 foster dogs kept me from getting a chance to go back to my parents' house to carve some more. I really wanted to do the 1971 logo and a Dwight Howard themed one. Maybe next year My Clutch the Bear one. Clutch has been using it as his Facebook fan page picture the last few weeks. My best one last year, and maybe all time. This one took the longest. And a couple others I did last year. Texans logo & attempt at Lin portrait. What I call my Jack-o-lin-tern. Funny, as a Rockets intern last fall, we had an event where J Lin was right in front of me. I pulled up a photo of my carving on my phone and was debating for awhile if I should show him. How awkward and awesome would that have been? But he was only there for a short while, and he had more security than anyone and they were rushing his already short time with the guests. Spoiler
i haven't carved a pumpkin the last couple of years. i think my best ones were the Iron Maiden mascot, Eddie, and Obama.
