This thread only confirms that there are some really stupid people in the world. There are people on the BBS that say a player that's going to finish with near, or more than 25,000 points, 10,000 rebounds, 3,000 assists, 1,300 blocks while shooting 47% from the field, 38% from 3, and 87% from the line.
I wasn't arguing that if Iverson is a lock for the HOF, which I think he is also. Someone mentioned that he is greatest talent the NBA has ever seen, to which I say that I think that person probably started watching the NBA when AI entered the NBA. 80's the larry bird/magic johnson era - nuff said also the 80's begat players such as (Hakeem, Jordan, Barkley, Stockton all in one draft), Karl Malone, David Robinson, Patrick Ewing, Clyde Drexler to name a few that became the face of the NBA carrying well into the late 90's. Those names are why the NBA received those large TV contracts and in turn made the future star players get max contracts way more than those names above have ever received with the exception of Jordan. It was the high point of NBA profitability, the NBA even added 6 more teams in the 80's/90's. Now the NBA is facing some major financial backlash with a few teams threatening bankruptcy and owners wanting major changes to the CBA. In my personal opinion it's because the current crop of superstars haven't held the weight of the past stars from the 80's/90's. Of course the general economic state has everyone pinching their pennies more, but I also believe the average sports fan would have paid to see Jordan in his prime rather than Kobe of today (assuming everyone thinks this is his prime). Same argument goes for LBJ, even though he's not a polished product yet IMO.
theres no way most of the players in that list can even be borderline i mean come on look at the past inductees i think only Garnett, nash, dirk and kidd can make it
HoF doesn't depend on how good they were, it depends on their accomplishments and how revered they will be in hindsight. These are easy choices Paul Pierce Kevin Garnett Ray Allen Steve Nash Chauncey Billups Manu Ginobli Jason Kidd Dirk Nowitzki
Actually, yeah, good point. So I'd say the same as yours except with Ray Allen, who's a shoe-in with his reputation as one of the best shooters to ever play.
The Basketball Hall of Fame is a joke Pete Maravich never won a series (he rode the pine late in his career) Tiny Archibald never won anything until he became a supporting player Dave Bing never won anything Dan Issel put up huge numbers on offense happy teams James Worthy was no better than Shawn Marion, but he had Magic Every halfway decent player from the 50's is in Paul Pierce - Yes (very confident) Kevin Garnett - Yes (Lock) Ray Allen - No (Borderline) Vince Carter - No (Borderline) Rasheed Wallace - No (Are You Kidding) Steve Nash - Yes Tracy McGrady - No (Injuries) Tony Parker - No (See how career finishes) Chauncey Billups - No Rip Hamilton - No Chris Webber - No Manu Ginobili - No Jason Kidd - Yes (Lock) Dirk Nowitzki - Yes (very confident)

How can some of you not put Ray Allen in? He's a lock IMO. One of the greatest shooters of all time plus a championship.
Not to mention he led some great Bucks team deep in the playoffs, missing the nba finals by a single game at one point.
Paul Pierce -- He's in. Wouldn't have made it without winning a ring in 2008, but he's in. Kevin Garnett -- He's a lock. Ray Allen -- I think he's in. He'll almost certainly retire No. 1 on the all-time 3 pointers made list, probably with around 25,000 points. Vince Carter -- He'll probably finish with 25,000-ish points, but he still hasn't shaken off the perception of being a loser/underachiever. I don't think he'll make it. Rasheed Wallace -- No. Steve Nash -- I think he'll retire in the top 5 all-time for assists. With two MVPs, he's in. Tracy McGrady -- No shot. Tony Parker -- I doubt it, but we'll see how the second half of his career unfolds. At this point I don't think he'll have the counting stats or the accolades. The three rings help, but probably won't be enough. Chauncey Billups -- Probably more deserving than, say, Joe Dumars, but I don't think he makes it. Rip Hamilton -- Not a chance. Chris Webber -- Absolutely deserves to get in, but he probably won't. Manu Ginobili -- Totally dependent on how much people take his international accomplishments into consideration. Yes, it is the Pro Basketball Hall of Fame, not the NBA Hall of Fame, and yes, Ginobili won some MVPs in Europe and has done well in the Olympics and WCs. That said, he came to the NBA at the age of 25, and has never performed at an MVP-level here. I don't think he'll make it. Jason Kidd -- He's a lock. Dirk Nowitzki -- I think he'll make it. How 'bout Grant Hill?
