Actually I am stunned he didn't turn into a star QB...the problem is all the Vince Lovers talking him up to god like status when he did nothing at this level...Fail or no Fail is up to the player not the system like a lot of people claim and for 2+ years he has done nothing and in pro ball that does make a career.
No. To create a mini-drama, they may say he's battling that scrub, Ramsey ... but there is NO WAY Fisher does that to Vince's psyche. Adams wouldn't let it happen either, I bet.
I do understand what you mean. There are pros and cons to showing certain plays in a preseason game. If nothing else, I could see them using that same formation in the regular season, (Mike Griffin running back in motion) but then running a different play with it. (i.e. having the punter actually hand off to Griffin on the reverse.) Regardless, it certainly was an interesting play, and kinda surprising that the D wasn't able to tackle the punter as they approached for the block. Maybe they were worried about roughing?? It seems to be called a little too much for my liking.
Being realistic, it was a nice fade route. I give him credit for a good throw. Conversely, that interception was horrible. So, he showed a little bit of good on that last drive, but it doesn't make up for the bad on previous drives.
A little more insight into the fake punt play.... "Two other thoughts: On Trapasso's play: Jeff Fisher likes a nice special team fake and on a night when Craig Hentrich didn't dress, the coach clearly relished the opportunity to give an Ohio guy who played at Ohio State a big moment on a national TV stage." http://myespn.go.com/blogs/afcsouth/0-11-53/On-Crumpler-s-weight--Titans--first-half.html I forgot that the game is being played in Ohio....
Really? That's interesting because no such argument even happened on this website... I watched a few minutes of this game - only because I finally got HDTV a few weeks ago and this was the first chance to take a look and see how good some football looked on it. The "Oiler" uniforms didn't phase me at all. I'm over it. I supposed if we didn't have a team by now, it would've been totally different. But, as it stands now, I just don't care.
I hated the idea of dressing the Titans up like Oilers and I hate Bud Adams and yadda yadda. But I was at the bar last night and this game was on and I have to say... It was pretty cool. Houston Oilers playing football again. Uniforms looked sharp. I miss that derrick. Only problem was they kept showing Vince Young.
Ok, let me clarify since I didn't really checkout Clutchfans back then besides Rockets items Id take you're word for it... The year Vince made the playoffs tons of people, not on clutchfans.net, where on his strap and destroying the Texans for not drafting him...I made the argument the Titans made the playoffs inspite of him not because of him, people laughed at me...after that INT I am the one who is still laughing!!!
I figured there was a level of sarcasim but I've learned some people are pretty sensitive to the issue so better be safe the sorry with a tab of my own sarcasim...
Seriously, I would argue that it was the most heated topic in the history of this bbs, and I'm not using hyperbole. And that includes everything in the D&D (pro-Bush vs anti-Bush) and the GARM (____ only fans). It was that bad. It got REALLY nasty at times and I was right in the middle of it too, so I make no claims of being above it all. But I think it's finally started to die down as of late.
Yea I remember how bad it got on the Radio especially after we didn't even choose Bush and just how crazy it got...I think VY having his issues really helped kill that except for your VY Lovers but those have been cut to only a small portion. Ill admit I thought VY would be special sorta of like a more athletic Steve McNair but hey sometimes it takes time and others just never get it...
