...among the many innacurate comments in here vis a vis celebs is the one about Redford's swing....

Fact: Robert Redford went to college on an athletic scolarship for, you guessed it, baseball....

what, exactly, did this "search" consist of? looking out the nearest window, not seeing anything and then calling it a day? just off the top of my head, since the war broke out, robbins has picketed the CNN offices in LA for misrepresenting the size of another anti-war protest he attended and has appeared on bill maher's HBO show, specifically dismissing maher's assertion that once the war starts, you should stop the protests.

more cracker jack reporter from sam donaldson, i tell ya. having said that, the HoF guy's a dick.

The saddest part of all this is the other movie celebrations that will have to be cancelled. After all, I hear that Cooperstown was planning to reunite the Bad News Bears this summer but then Petroskey found out that in addition to being a booger-eating spaz, Kelly Lupus is also a member of the Socialist Workers party.

If a pro-war actor got booted out of the Oscars because he supported Bush, wouldn't you be pretty mad about it?

Uh. Are you sure he wasnt a pitcher because anybody who saw that movie and know anything about baseball can tell you the ball wasnt going to make it past the infield.

By the way, this is just an innocent observation and not worthy of any 12 page soliloqy - just in case you were thinking of debating me on this.

Um..no. I would have been like, 'Oh there's a shocker. The tree huggin movie makers kicked my boy Mel out of the Oscars.' And I would have ran out and bought some of his DVDs.

Honestly, I could care less. Actors get paid to act. When I want their opinion on something, I'll ask them, but I seriously doubt that they would take one second of their precious time to address a common man seeing that they get no publicity out of it.

Well, I guess what happened to the Dixie Chicks was an isolated event? Nobody would boycott the Oscars?

I support the war, and something like this would make me mad. In fact, Tim Robbins' liberal statements make me pretty mad. Just looking at him makes me mad sometimes! But this action is just as dumb as any dumb chanting protester.

Think of it this way- you are making a bunch of Democrats mad. And you are giving them a cheap issue to capitalize on and motivate their base. Don't let that happen!

Truth be known, I don't affilitate myself with any political party. I weigh the issues when I decide where I stand. What I'm trying to say that no matter how stupid the situation, it was Petroskey's right to do what he did as much as it was the actors right to do what they did. I agree that the whole situation is stupid, and I think that this thing is just a game of one upmanship. Not worthy of being an issue.

I've never found Tim Robbins attractive until I saw him on that Bill Maher show. It looks like he has been working out and his hair was kinda highlighted and spiky. Plus he was wearing this great T-Shirt with Dubya's face that said "WHAT WOULD JESUS BOMB?"

Baseball Hall of Fame Press Release, January 17, 2002...I like the suck up quote by Petroskey. And what does Ari have to do with baseball?
    _______________

The Cooperstown Winter Cultural Series opens on Saturday, February 2 in the Louis C. Jones Center at The Farmers’ Museum with President Bush’s Press Secretary Ari Fleischer. As White House Press Secretary, Mr. Fleischer is the primary spokesperson for the President and delivers the daily White House briefing. He previously served as the Senior Communications Advisor and Spokesman for the Bush-Cheney presidential campaign.

Prior to joining Governor Bush’s campaign, Mr. Fleischer was the national spokesman and Communications Director for Elizabeth Dole’s presidential campaign.

Mr. Fleischer was hired by the House Committee on Ways and Means after Republicans took control of the Congress in November 1994. As Communications Director there, Mr. Fleischer was the House of Representative’s principal staff spokesman on issues relating to taxes, Medicare, Social Security, welfare and international trade.

“In his first year Ari Fleischer has had a more demanding job than any White House Press Secretary in history” said Hall of Fame President Dale Petroskey. “He has managed to be a candid spokesman for the President while clearly and simply articulating the Bush Administration’s goals, both foreign and domestic. We are thrilled to welcome him to Cooperstown and hear his perspective on life in the White House and the current political scene which of course includes the war on terrorism.”
