I don't even need to download the video clip. I remember seeing him relentlessly torturing defenders with it like it was yesterday. Some of the things he did to defenders, especially David Robinson, are just too sick for words.
Kanye West featuring Jay-Z - Never Let Me Down off Kanye West's College Dropout album. As close to being a hip hop classic as you can get. Definitely cop it!
Bring back great memories. The thing Dream did, I can't imagine anybody today can do it. He was doing things big man are not supposed to be able to do.
Hakeem was just amazing. His moves were so fast. his dunks vicious. He was like no other. Wonder if we will ever get another "like" Dream.
I'll say it again. Amare is not Dream, he will be Moses Malone II. His defense has a ways to go before he can become Hakeem. Plus, his offensive game has very little finesse.
Amare???? That's sacrilegeous. Hakeem is more refined, a better defender, and more skilled player than amare period. One thing that they have in common is the relentless drive to the basket attacking it with impunity like there's nobody can stop them. That's the only thing i can think of that amare has the same with the dream.
not sure if the rolleyes indicates sarcasm, but.... for a while, i thought amare and hakeem were comparable in terms of athleticism (just athleticism. nothing else). but after watching this video of hakeem, you realize that hakeem was quite a bit more athletic than amare. btw, bill walton made the amare/hakeem comparison during the game today. he said hakeem was more powerful, bigger, physically more gifted, and stronger on the second jump when compared to amare. add to this the fact that hakeem was an amazing defensive player, had a much better low post game, and had more range, etc... and you realize that there really is no basis to compare the two.
Yes, I was being sarcastic... Dream made his teammates better and was able to create his own shot facing up. Also his footwork and agility is legendary, not to mention his great shot blocking.
You do realize that Malone was a 3 time mvp during the era of Kareem, Magic, Bird, and Dr J right? If Amare becomes Moses II, I'd trade tmac and a first pick for him.
This old but I will repeat: We are comparing a 20 year old to Hakeem's whole career. Of course Dream was more refined; what do you expect? He wasn't that refined at UH. He was VERY raw but he showed flashes of greatness. Dream didn't reach his peak until he made some major changes in his life midway in his career. Don't sell Amare short. If he keeps his head on straight, he could win MORE than 3 MVPs. Remember how skinny Moses was when he started? Reminds me of Amare's body type. You also shortchange T-Mac, IMO. He may step it up a couple notches and become really "scary" (his own words). None of us know what these guys will be like in 4-5 years. Some will flame out but there will be some NBA legends and Top 50 players created this decade out of T-Mac, Amare, LeBron, DWade, Dwight Howard, etc. Give 'em a chance and lets see what happens.
Does anyone have theReasonSF3 's dream mix part 2 ??? the second championship one. The part 1 was one of the best videos I've ever seen. Pity I couldn't get part II.
from apostolic3: If Amare ascends to a great level I'll be the first to salute him. But where in hell are these comparisons coming from? Moses was a defensive force from hell very early, and the only thing that's applicable here is their young age when they entered the league and relative size. I don't care if Amare averages 30 pts. a game, but until he shows me a fraction of Moses' D or intimidation there's no real basis of comparison. Dream? Before he was at his peak he often was able to shut down offenses and throw games out of whack just by being there. You just can't tell me a kid like Amare who's D is - well, bad - will suddenly become anywhere near the level of Moses or Dream. The best Amare comparison to me is a very young Charles Barkley. Yeah I know Amare's much taller but even their on-court demeanors are similar. If you really must compare him to a Houston guy then The Big E works fairly well. Except E played really good D.
I lost track of this thread and didn't see your comments until now, declan32001. I remember Moses from his St. Louis Spirits days and very early in his NBA career. I don't remember him being a defensive force then but my memory could be faulty. Either way, I didn't say Amare would "suddenly" become anything. Give him some time. Within 2-3 years from now we will know if he's headed for greatness. I don't think he has much of a chance at measuring up to Hakeem because he doesn't have the skills. Amare COULD measure up to Moses if he continues to improve and add to his game each year. And call me crazy, but 3 MVPs in the next 10 years for this guy is not out of the question. Unlikely, yes; out of the question, no. I'm very interested to see if he is willing to admit his defense is terrible and dedicate himself to improving it. His spectacular blocks every so often are fun to watch, but he's gotta learn to play defense every time down court and prevent his man from getting offensive rebounds. At this point in his career, he is not a complete player, but the best is yet to come.
