stole my thunder. Although I was about 9 and 10 during the championships, I just have great memories of watching him, even up til his last days here. I think that outside of the talent, it was his will and determination. He would not be denied, as evidenced by the 95" series vs. David Robinson. I think alot of people tend to overlook the mental aspect of the game. I wish we could do Yao like they did on the Matrix and download Hakeem's mind into him or something.
Yahoo actually is wrong in this case. What is "Clutch City" is the zip code the Rockets' headquarters/stadium is in. What Yahoo is showing is their old Greenville Plaza/Summit/Compaq Center location's zipcode. The new zip code matches the Toyota Center which is 77002. If you address mail to "Clutch City, Tx.", the post office will understand this to be the 77002 zip code.
I got pissed off yesterday when some guy called in on 97.5 and was talking about 3 centers, he either said they were the "best" or the "greatest" and talking about how they changed the game so much and could up a variety of stats or something. Well the guys he mentioned were Kareem Abdul Jabbar, Bill Russell, and Chamberlain. No mention of Hakeem! Its ok though, i've heard those radio guys stick up for him before though. People have called in saying Hakeem was soft and crap like that. But the radio-DJ's aren't that stupid, stats speak for themselves.
funny you ask b/c i was having trouble finding it yesterday when i went to play with it some more b/c they changed it. it's under the blue "Full Court" tab at the top of the page. all the way on the right. or you can select an individual player and select "box scores search" on their individual page and then you can just search box scores for that individual. searched for 5 steal, 5 block games and for about 3 years around 1990 hakeem did it 10 times and no one else in the league did it at all.
Some Spurs fans are still bitter about DRob getting undressed by Dream, still using the same old doubleteam excuse... http://www.spursreport.com/forums/showthread.php?t=62835
Wow, one poor deluted Spur fan went as far as to claim Duncan was better then Hakeem because he played against better big men... (Shaq, Morning (with kidneys), Ewing, Robinson etc) versus "garnett; Elton brand; rasheed Wallace"...wow.
To be fair, if you read all of the posts in that thread, the posters are very fair to Hakeem, especially considering they are Spurs fans. Most of them completely gush over Hakeem. Some of the comments about Hakeem being rested, the lack of double-teaming him while Robinson was doubled and the fact Bob Hill was their coach are valid points.
i have it on vhs but they have it on dvd now http://www.amazon.com/Hakeem-Olajuw...4-2131159?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1174540827&sr=8-1
