Folks make fun of OJ, Osama, McVey [sp] and similar "figures" and if it not offensive to those whose death are/were directly or indirectly linked to those men then this one isn't. I guess it is all about perspective. Now If you think making fun of OJ, Osama or TimothyM is not funny then that person has a leg to stand on - that person can righteously critique the taste of this thread.
I find this thread to be very barbarian, barbarous, boorish, brutal, coarse, cruel, graceless, inhuman, lowbrow, primitive, rough, rude, tasteless, uncivilized, uncouth, and vulgar.
Its not offensive, but its cheesy. None of the jokes are funny. How can this be the best thread you have seen?
Next up ~ Hakeem vs. the Tunguska meteor explosion -- hopefully no Siberians will be offended. ____ Btw ~ over half of my family is from New Orleans and Baton Rouge and after checking with them they feel that Hakeem would in fact be triumphant vs. Hurricane Katrina.
Weak thread....bad sense of humor.....Katrina is not a laughing matter.....the Karma you are asking for could however be funny for some....please keepus updated on the tragedies ahead of you.....we could start a poll of the consequences of your actions if that brings you enough attention?
I'm not speaking on the soapbox here, I just don't believe the thread was funny in any way and people attacked me for saying that I suppose.
I can understand where you'r coming from but I don't think we are taking anything away from the aftermath of the storm, the victims or the people who died by mocking the hurricane. When I was down in NOLA I saw a lot of T-shirts and graffitti that said things like "Katrina is a b****!", "Katrina is a p***y!", or "b****slap Katrina!" Stuff like that could be taken as being in poor taste but also is a sign of defiance along with finding some humor to cope with the situation. Pretending that Hakeem could actually defeat the hurricane is totally ridiculous but its not meant as a slap at those who suffered from the hurricane but is meant both to make fun of the exalted status that we Rox fans have given to Hakeem and also to mock the hurricane by portraying it as something that a pro-athlete could beat.
