Best basketball i've seen in years. Thanks, OP, for posting the clip. We were really blessed to have Dream. Top 5 player of all-time. He would've been the runaway MVP every year had he been playing now.
just taking care of business as usual. but really, that's a rare sighting. i think he drove to the basket in one game and faked his defender, made a pretty reverse. one time.
I was thinking the same thing... dude was a beast pre-injuries. But man oh man, we were spoiled by Dream's awesomeness... I miss watching him play!!
Enjoyed that. Some of my favorite players of all-time... Olajuwon, Mutombo, Thorpe, etc... Makes you wish basketball was still played that way.
100% agreed. Its unbelievable to me that star players today do not take pride in stopping opposing stars. As much as I hate Kobe, have to respect the fact that not many stars today take pride in the competition against opposing stars as him. got to love hakeem and deke going at it. 2 incredibly great centers going to battle is always great to watch
Unofficial count of number of flops in that video: 0. That's the problem today, the rules. They cater to p*****s like Pau. He would have carried most backup centers' jocks back in the 90s but today he's "the best big man" because falling over is "skilled defense" today.
man, I bet newer fans have never seen Mutumbo move so fast. It's great to see the fan favorite Rockets #1 on that video.... .................................
You say that as if players have an option of who they guard. Many teams have thier defensive minded wing now, and don't want their stars covering other stars, racking up fouls and using up energy. Although you will see Howard vs/Yao and you're going to see a star play LeBron or Wade every Heat game.
Hakeem was such a beast. I loved the tip-in dunk he made. It's such a shame that I didn't get to watch this during my early years of life. Must have been cool to be 20 years old during those times.
Akim, interesting that you say that. When I looked at the video, my first thought how much less physical it is! Lol, now I'm not so sure of myself.
Remember when C's and PF's were actually big men who ruled the paint instead of just skinny, lanky, wimpy swingmen camped out at the 3-point line watching the little guys drive the lane and get fouls called? Today's NBA sucks.
