No problem.... Just wait until you turn 35 and your warranty expires... Then let's see you talk some noise..
Actually the video tells most of the story... I actually remmber it like it was yesterday.... Basically he got the name because he was so raw, with no real organized basketball skills... So he was a "Dream" to what he could be become... Man I remember going to Fonde playing ball and also watching Hakeem and Malone pound on each other... Malone was a FREAKIN BEAST... I don't know how it is today but Fonde was the place to be back them... Lost of summer league ball... Lots of stories especially with Major Jones.. Man that dude was one big baby... Lewis Lloyd was like a human highlight on a fast break...
GOAT. My favorite player of all time! Hope we will have the chance to one day get another guy that can come close to his greatness both on and off the court!
Fonde still goes hard from what I hear. You can catch a bunch of NBA stars there during the summer time...
Every time I watch this, it brings a smile to my face. Such a great story and the fact that Hakeem was a hometown guy (more or less, lol) was great. I don't think watching films from the glory days ever gets old as a Rockets fan. I just wish we had a few more championships in the 2000's
We must go to Africa. Surely Hakeem has some brothers or nephews that can play the game. This is the only solution
Seeing this many many many times, watched many many many of his games over and over and over again and I always get amazed by his incredible foot work! what a beast
I liked the part where Barkley said he'd dunk on Hakeem and then got blocked on his first 4 shots. Comeuppance.
It was even more than that. In Hakeems book he states it was Sampson to Portland for the 2nd pick and Clyde Drexler. 2nd pick could of been Jordan.

Hakeem's brothers already went through college and played their basketball. None of them were anywhere near as good as he was. I think one of his brothers used to be an investment broker. I know he's part of or heads up a company under Olajuwon's name. They bought a bunch of Denny's restaurants a while back.
Yep.... In a way the Rockets could have had Sampson, Hakeem and Drexler... But they drafted McCray... Then with that trade they could have had Hakeem. Jordan and Drexler...
I don't think we'll ever have a Center that could every carry this man's jockstrap..... Dude was unreal.....a....Dream.
I hope you're happy. I just spent the past 2 hours watching videos of the past (I've never seen them; haven't followed much of Houston basketball prior to 2007). I am supposed to be busy I had no idea Hakeem and the Rockets to the NBA Finals in his second year with the team...that's ridiculous. Was he, at that time, considered better than MJ? Because while MJ went on a scoring tear, he didn't see much post season success. I also didn't know that the Houston media turned on the Rockets in the 1994 post-season when they started 0-2 against the Suns? That's messed up. I wonder who that/those writer(s) are/were. Must have felt like a douche after they won the title. Enjoyed it a lot. Thanks. Why wasn't the 2nd championship included in the video? Was it made right after the championship, and prior to the 2nd championship? I still went to watch the documentary about the Rockets 2nd championship, though, and them becoming the first team in NBA history to defeat 4 teams that won 50+ games during the regular season. Amazing stuff.
