Tough to come out of retirement when you're dead.

jordan never came back and he never played basketball those two years cause the bulls fans here said it never happened. those baseball years never counted and his wizards years never counted and his years in the 80s never counted either cause he never played in the 80s.

I always get really mad when people put down the Wizards years. Like the other night on sportscenter someone mentioned them and the host said oh those two wonderful years very very sarcastically and rolled his eyes a bit.

Who else in history could sit out three full seasons and then at age 38-39 come back playing the 2 or 3 and average 21 pts 4.5 assts and 6 rebounds (rough averages between the two years). Think about guys T-Mac is averaging like 22 5-5 this year and Francis at his peak put up those numbers.

I don't normally praise Jordan because he pretty much single handedly denied Barkley a championship (they reason I'm a Rockets fan) but I hate when uninformed "experts" bash those two years.

well we denied barkley 2 more rings and unfortunately another ring when he played with us :(

exactly. i don't hate jordan. he had to do what he had to do to sell tickets for the wizards. his best move as a wizard was getting rid of Juwan and his $1 billion dollar contract.

his last years in the league, he he scored mainly on post ups (jordan was still bigger and stronger than most 2s) and jumpers. he still had some flash of the athleticism, (didn't he score like 45 points? on game).

I guess it was good for us fans so we can see him one more time regardless that he's not the same player. Same with Magic when he came back (Fat Magic). Though, Magic came back cause he didn't want HIV to be the reason for retirement.

None of the legends really retired on top.
    Bird - bad back
    Magic - HIV, fat magic
    Jordan - wizards no playoffs
    Dream -Raptor

but you can't deny they loved to play basketball.

I remember on TNT Magic told this story about the 80s Lakers and how some of his teammates thought that Wilt Chamberlain 'wouldn't be good ' in their era. Magic said Wilt heard about it, and scrimaged the Lakers with #2 team vs the #1 team and schooled them hard.

Also, another sad side story is that Black Magic documentary about racism in basketball. Some of the best players never got drafted by the NBA because of race and some of them were 'limited' politically when they were there. There was one player on the St Louis team (Back when they had an NBA team) who was so awesome that the coach forced him to take less shots to let the 'other' players do well.

I'll never dog on those old players, the newbs just forget how bad racism was back in the day. where you can't even use the bathroom cause of your skin. that's insane.

Dream was done at the end of his career. He relied on quickness and agility... unlike guys like Dale Davis, Willis, Oakley...who could keep it going cause they stayed in shape and could still box anyone out.

Then again, no reason we couldn't expect Hakeem to be what Deke is right now. Except his pride wouldn't let him. He couldn't be just a jump shooter on offense.. he wouldn't allow it. So he wouldn't come back.

He comes and plays pick-up games at the Lifetime Fitness in Sugar Land. Apparently he still has game and is in very good shape.

There is a time when you just can't do it anymore.

That time has come for The Dream.
