On The Source's put together your NBA All Time Starting Line Up for $15. Hakeem is worth less than those other centers and even less than Nowitzki and John Stockton.

I saw this on another forum and everybody was saying how Hakeem is by far the best value. He's a steal at only $1.

And these were not Rockets fans.

So everybody knows that Hakeem is low on that list.

    Olajuwon is an easy choice.

Jordan is the only $5 player that I'd definitely say is worth taking.

Dam that's a sick starting five. I would put that team against any.

There's really no shame in being "below" Russell and Wilt. I think Russell has always been overrated, but I've never seen him play. I'd certainly put Hakeem above Shaq (and so would Shaq, as he's stated many times). I'd put him over Kareem too, but it's debatable.

Those 5 guys are clearly the 5 best Centers in the history of the sport, but it's impossible to compare players from different eras. All 5 totally revolutionized the position - each in his own way.

Hakeem played in the era of the dominate big man, and he dominated every single one of them.

    .1 Hakeem Olajuwon

I'm trying not to be biased as the life-long Rockets fan that I am. You are right about that other dominate big men.

I'd put him at #2 behind Wilt. No one will ever score 100 points in a game ever again.

You will never get a definite answer.... but I will just say this, I cannot put a poor offensive player (Russell) over awesome two way players like Olajuwon, Wilt, Kareem. Even Shaq was not a liability on defense and at times was very good at keeping the lane empty.

People forget how good Kareem was, but even he was viewed as a weak leader and would wilt under pressure.

Interestingly, there are some complicated formulas that have been produced, to decide which center is the best.... and the 2 names that always finish 1 and 2 are Dream and Kareem.

I want to think that whoever made the list was a Rockets Fan! Making Olajuwon worth only $1 ensures that he will be on the list! If there is another motive instead, well, then that person is a moron!!!

    Magic Johnson.......5 PG
    Michael Jordan.......5 SG
    Quitten Pippen.......1 SF (I had to :()
    Tim Duncan...........3 PF
    Hakeem Olajuwon ..1 C
    .......
    .......
    .......

Yep, this is by far the best lineup. Whoever set those prices is a dumbass.

Did you ever see Karl Malone play?

Both Malone and Garnett were great defensive players but Malone was a much better offensive player than Garnett.

Malone's offense was even better than Nowitzki's and the defense wasn't even close.
