Bottom line....it is a sin to compare hakeem to stoudamire. Their impact to winning a basketball game is incomparable imo.

    Lose Yao, gain Hakeem.

The Dream never looked like his feet were in cement, or could barely stand up half way through the first quarter like Yao.

I love Yao...but come on. Having the Dream on your team. It's not even close.

Amare doesn't play defense at all.
Dream was one of the best defensive players of all time.

getting rid of tmac is enough. We don't need Dream or Clyde, but we just need someone who can take tmac to moon where he'll never disappoint any human being.

How is this even a poll? Dream >Tmac+ Yao + Ron Artest+ Scola + Rafer Alston + Battier.

I'd trade the entire starting lineup for Dream, roll with Brooks hayes and landry and von wafer, and just start dominating the other teams by 20 pts per game :D

Lose Yao gain Hakeem 100 out of 100 times. Hakeem would anchor our team defense the way KG does in Boston, and the rest would be history. It would be too much defense with Hakeem, Battier, Artest, and even Tmac (Hakeem's play would inspire him) and we all know how much offense that would be with our 3 stars. IMO Hakeem makes his teammates better, while Yao has failed to do that.

    leebigez,
most people here rely on youtube videos and nbatv for their nba history.
this is the same reason why people think kenny smith only had 1 good playoff game or that robert horry only jacked up 3s. we're the keepers of the grail.

Clyde vs TMac could be debated which is better(I think Clyde) but

there is no doubt that Dream was WAY!!!!!!! better than Yao and I like Yao a lot.

The 03 tracy was a good scorer, but he wasn't a winner.

Hakeem obviously but he would suffer in Adelman's offense. He would suffer a lot. You can't run motion with Olajuwon.

Haha, with a smart player like Dream, you don't need a coach. He can be player/coach aka Bill Russel. Because all he really needs is to direct the pg on where he wants the ball

yao is a good player dont get me wrong, but he holds us back in being able to run the floor. For example, look at our 22 game win streak, we didn't lose much with him, I mean we lost a little bit of offense, but we gained a lot of defense and were able to score on the fast break so much easier and just had a quicker offense.

Putting Hakeem in our starting lineup instead of Yao would create the best lineup in the NBA no question, and argueably the best team in NBA history. Why? You have the best defensive lineup if you slid Artest down to PF had Battier at SF and Rafer/T-Mac at the guard positions. You have Hayes to spell Hakeem and Landry to spell Battier while Scola can give Artest a break. Brooks and Barry backup T-Mac and Alston.

Looking at this lineup against top teams in the NBA:

Lakers: Battier would one on one Kobe and we saw last year how much Kobe struggles with Battier on him, I don't think anyone in the NBA matches up better against Kobe then Battier. We have Artest and Hakeem down low on Gasol and Bynum. Artest is one of the best defenders the NBA has had the past 5 years, and Hakeem, is the best post defender in NBA history. What this also enables is Rafer will lock down Fisher and T-Mac will be able to focus on offense. Whenever Kobe goes out, you give Battier his break and we will easily take care of the lakers.

Celtics: This is what gets me excited, Hakeem would completely take Garnett out of the game. Artest would hold Pierce just like he did earlier this season, and Battier would lock down Allen. T-Mac would be able to concentrate on offense once again and this game could easily be a blow out.

Drexler is great dont get me wrong, but we already have 2 lockdown defenders, and what we would be lacking is offense. Clyde brought offense, but I think T-Mac is a little more talented on the offensive end.

You could take Yoa and McGrady either one of Dream or Drexler......we'd be a FAR better team for sure.
