theres a big huge difference in his products today and his cheap sneakers then. then, he was a big role model to kids, whod want to buy his stuff, hence the reason he made it affordable for those kids. today, its mainly for the general public who are buying it for the products itself, and maybe to those kids who are now grown ups with money. theres no reason for him to produce cheap stuff for kids, they probably wouldnt know him anyway.
those pics of him are recent right? cos if they are, man, compare his current fitness level to shaq's, and you gotta wonder how serviceable he would be to any team requiring some center work.
umm give it up.. I love dream as much as the next guy but he cant play in the NBA anymore. Just go watch him in the Joe's vs Pro's episodes. He cant play a at a high level anymore. There was a reason why he retired. As for the clothing line. Its way too expensive. I dont care if its made in the USA no Tshirt should cost 75 bucks. Its still only cotton
I have designer t-shirts that only cost half that and they dont look like they were taken out of the bargain bin at good will
Hmm yes he looks fat but he is still a very serviceble center and putting up good numbers and making a difference when he's in there. He's still a huge body and clogs up the lanes and he's putting up better numbers than any other center that only plays 20mpg. His stats 11ppg, 6 reb, 65% FG, in 21 mins.. that's not too bad if u ask me.
Hakeem was considered one of the best dressed NBA players back in his days, and always had a knack for fashion. So this is not a surprise, nor his pricing or his target customers, which I would peg as the metros who can afford the nicer things without b****ing about the prices. As for the actual look and supposed quality, looks cool and casual but yeah I don't see myself buying that stuff. But I'd be curious of the other type of clothes he could be selling later, like jackets or dress shirts/dress pants/shoes/belts/watches, cause that's where I think Hakeem would be good at. Comparing his $20 playing shoes that he endorsed in his playing days to his clothing line he's promoting is kinda stupid. If Nike offered him his own Nike line back in the day, he would have been all over that. It's what was available to him endorsement wise, he wasn't a household name like his contemporaries. But then again, I do think it was in line to his character to promote a low priced shoe as a rebuttal to all the high priced shoes and the crimes involved around them that his peers were endorsing.
Houston Rockets on Facebook: "Any customer purchasing DR34M products during the game will receive an autographed player card, while supplies last!"
Too bad... I think it is pimp too. No disrespect to his religion or beliefs, but those clothes are flat pimp playa.
Just barely watching the replay of the New Year's Eve game, and I see the "DL" logo and "DR34M" clothing stuff, and came here just to add my opinion: THEY'RE F#)^#*&^(@# EXPENSIVE.
Why are the Rockets involved in this? Is it a joint effort between Hakeem and the Rockets organization?
