Have you *seen* Grant play since then? I don't care what happened in that series-he's an excellent defender, and a pretty good low post player. We don't have ANYTHING like that on our team, outside of the aging Dream right now.

There are far worse things to getting outplayed by Karl Malone, who as much as we hate him may be the greatest PF ever. Remember Barkley? He got annihilated by Malone in 98.

He's hardly a punk. Grant's a great community guy who doesn't scream at coaches. YOu pulled this out of thin air.

Clutch: Grant is paid as much as some people who put up much better numbers... but that's not the question. The question is whether or not we can GET any of them. If we can't, Grant becomes an attractive second choice. I mean, come on, we're paying Cato HOW MUCH? Grant's worth a few million more :p.

Obviously Hakeem is exploring his options. Signing an agent means not accepting chump change.

I do hope we move away contracts we don't need (Walt, Cato, Los, unless Los can be waived anyway). If Dream does leave to sign for an exception somewhere, we have only Cato to man the fort. We would have to make real nice-like to Marc Jackson. Cato alone might entice Mo to run to Detroit.

Has anybody thought about trading for Bruce Bowen. He would be the sf we need for this team. He had MAD D and doesn't shoot much. This season he was the starting sf for them.

If the Rockets are looking for a low post presence, Grant's not your answer. Personally, I'd rather have the cap space than Grant and his contract.

You guys must be talking about different series, cause I remember the Malone elbow(it was a particularly viscious elbow), but not Malone making Grant his b****.

In fact, I distinctly remember Grant dominating Malone in the deciding game and getting a standing ovation from the home crowd.

That is precisely correct. Grant stifled Malone in the deciding game. Outrebounded him in clutch moments of the game, and even had some nice put backs and post moves.

I haven't seen anyone play Malone like that since.

If we trade Dream then we won't have the money to sign Webber.

Grant is good, but not worth his contract. i mean, even without zo he didnt get 20 and 10. and i am not sure how good his post up game will be next year with zone...if we cant get webb, we would be better off resigning mo. his sweet J will be valuable next year with zone.
true, grant can rebound like a mad man at times, and hustles, but 12 million a year for an injury prone player? too much if u ask me partner.......

That's true. Unless we move the other player to another team.

And I don't want to go overboard here, but obviously the ideal situation would be to unload dead weight so we can bring in another high-profile (and necessary) player AND re-sign Dream for a year or two. Obviously we're going after Webber, as Clutch recently reiterated. It would help if we could show that Hakeem will stay, and Hakeem certainly looks like he wants a little more than the veterans minimum.

Damn, I hope this team pulls off some great deals this summer.

I think they will. Just think if we trade up and draft Griffin and sign Webber,Jackson and Dream in the offseason. That would be a perfect summer.

"sometimes i wonder if people actually watch basketball.

why in the "H" "E" "double toothpick" would you want grant over webber????"

First of all, I think Webber is a punk. The way he acted towards Vin Baker earlier in the season was just pitiful.

Secondly, I think he takes too many jumpers, and demands too much "superstar status".
Yes, he does have a good low-post game, but he demands the ball for about 25 shots per game. For this to remain Steve Francis' team, I think they need to keep the offense revolving around him. What they need is a strong defender and rebounder. They would get that in Brian Grant.

Grant hustles and works harder than Webber, and I think he is simply a better person. He would provide about 15 ppg, many of which would be from much needed offensive boards. I think he is a better defender than Webber, and I would simply like it more if Grant were on the team.

Griffin will go top 3. I think Battier or Jefferson would be in our best interest. Each could be available with #4 or later. We should target Atlanta or New Jersey for their pick. Atlanta has Ratliff and Mohammed (who has acquitted himself nicely in Ratliff's absence) at center, they're set at all positions, save a semi-stud backup combo guard...our #13 pick should cover that...?

Detroit needs a center (Cato) so that Wallace can play his natural 4-spot, and the Pistons could use a 2/3 (Shandon?---Brickhouse could play 2 or 3). Why not Los as well (hometown boy?) and/or Walt?

Detroit has a 3.9 million exception from the Ceballos trade. A good team for us to send some players. Maybe receive the #9 pick in trade (they would have to draft for us).

Detroit can't attract free agents, so maybe, just maybe...?

If Webber comes here it will be C-webbs team. C-webb is a proven superstar who will be the man, and who can take Stevie & Cat to the next level, not the other way around.
