Manny -- sometime when you get a break from your Rocket-bashing (hey, I call them as I see them), can you let me know where I rank in terms of post-count? That really is valuable info. I'd ask Clutch to do it but I'm not sure he's got the tools at his disposal.

I find it humorous and ironic that you can't argue with me about this anymore. Instead, you have to keep making potshots to try to make yourself look good.

What happened to TheFreak that I have heard other posters say was "the most logical and the Mr. Spock of this BBS"? He has been resorted to nothing more than petty name-calling.

Well, sir, I could if I really wanted to engage with you in this stimulating and intellectual discussion of taking potshots at someone when you can't come up with anything else to argue about but I won't.

Even though I don't agree with you on lots of things, I did admire in the past how you presented your side. Well, now you are faced with a situation that has left you acting like a baby. I am disappointed that you feel you have to act like this.

Oh no, Manny is now passing judgement on me like he has on Hakeem! All of my 3000+ classic posts (btw, you never told me where I rank) are now out the window! They are meaningless now, thanks to this one thread. Now I know how Hakeem must feel...getting slammed by the ungrateful Manny Ramirez of the Clutch BBS for one instance -- everything else I've done in my entire posting career has now been wiped out! This one thread is now my legacy. I shall now be known as the "name-caller", or the "pot shot maker", if you're looking for something more spiffy. After all, this one thread is what defines my career as a poster, not the close to 3 years worth of other posts.

Give me something to argue about Manny, and I'll be happy to. So far, all you have is your jilted lover take on Hakeem, based on speculation. I can't argue your speculation. If you think a contract dispute one summer is more important than 2 championships and legitimization of a city as a sports city (anyone who thinks the latter is superceded by the former obviously feels this way), then that's a personal issue that I can't argue either. I can just say that it's not the way a fan would act, that's all. And I'll just have to think about your innovative ranking system for posters every time I see a post of yours...because that one post is what now defines you on this board (by your own criteria), not anything else you've written.

GOD, you have some major issues! Take a deep breath and try to relax there, buddy. So, I came up with a thread that was in the "Hangout Forum" (not this forum or the main one) that didn't work out the way I expected. Do I expect every post of mine to be a "classic"? No, but like I said before I am not going to lose any sleep over that and I definitely don't give a rat's ass about what one poster on this BBS thinks about it.

You must be one insecure individual in taking things of others and twisting them around to make yourself look good. I was warned about you and I have picked up that you do this **** to others, so at least I'm not the only one you feel compelled to do this.

I have given you something to argue with and you always dance around the issue or avoid it: how do you explain that Olajuwon said that "the best thing that the Rockets can do is to bring back the whole team" and then he later says "that the Rockets were never seriously in the running for him to come back." You can twist words of others like myself to try to make yourself look good, but I can hardly wait to see how you'll twist the words of your hero.

BTW - you are entitled to your own opinion, and if you feel that way about being a fan, then that's fine. I don't see it that way. However that doesn't mean that just because you and I disagree about this that I'm going to say that you are not a fan of the Rockets.
Once again, I will hardly lose any sleep tonight over what "TheFreak" on clutchcity BBS thinks about me and my posts. I thought that I have made that clear, but let me state it one more time:

I don't give a rat's ass about what TheFreak thinks about me or my posts.

this is a funny thread. I can't stop laughing. :D

I rooted against Hakeem whenever I saw him play last on cable. It was actually pretty fun, didn't think I'd react that way. Of course he was playing like crap and it was annoying me. If he started playing like Hakeem of old(as opposed to just old :p ), I would really enjoy watching him play, even though he is on the Raps. Man it was so fun to watch him in the post :(

    Hakeem Ilikefreepostsandthewaythisthreadhasdeflatedintosilliness.

I hope Hakeem has a solid year and the Rockets get farther in the playoffs than the Raptors do. I heard rumors that he and Davis didn't have great on-court chemistry a la Dream and Barkley, and that Davis wasn't too pleased about it. Anyone heard anything else about that?

Freak- your valiant efforts in this thread have inspired me greatly. Keep it up. I feel like it's time for me to give up my title as "the official Hakeem Defender", and change it to "one of the three official Hakeem Defenders". Dreamer, yourself, and I are all that's left of the once thousands of Hakeem Olajuwon fans on this board. It's a shame.

    Two Things --

    1) Hakeem is not the Rockets

    2)We're 9-1 if he's still wearing pj's.

    That is all.

This is just not true, Freak. I was a huge Rocket fan long before Hakeem set foot in this country. The Rockets have always been, and always will be, the greatest basketball team on this earth.

Oh, and they had a great center...Moses Malone...before they had a great center named Hakeem. They were the Rockets then as well.

I no doubt am included in this group as well, but just haven't been vocal about it enough to let it be known. Hakeem is the reason I'm a Rockets fan, and while I will always be a Rocket fan and they will always be my numero uno, Dream has singlehandedly made the Raptors my second favourite team from my most hated in a singe summer. I sincerely hope he plays a big heart in the Raptor's run this playoff season.

One thing I don't get about this board; is why do people go out of their way to diss Dream? Yes he didn't leave the team the way we wanted him to, but the fact is he shed his sweat, blood and tears for this city for 2 decades and as TheFreak pointed out he is the main reason why the Rockets are still in Houston on the strength of our 2 championships. I've even seen some lower him close to the same level as the ultimate whiner; Scottie Quitten. Dream never blasted his teammates, ridiculed his fans or directly attacked the organization ('92 notwithstanding). Not only has he been a local icon on the court for almost 20 years but he has been a model citizen and influential community figure from what I understand. Whether it was the Rockets fault or his fault in his departure is debatable; I honestly believe he did no different from what any other ordinary athlete today would have done.

And perhaps that is why a lot of people have been tough on him; because they always viewed him as some type of super-angel who was not prone to mistakes or even the slightest bit of selfishness. We collectively had elevated him to such a level that seeing him as an ordinary human was a shock and as a result some of us blamed him for it.

Fact is, Hakeem is not a Rocket anymore and its time to get over it and wish him well for the remainder of his career. He may not retire a Rocket, but he will be remembered for his time in H-town. For all the memories and pride he gave us, he deserves that much.

10 years from now, no one is going to give a damn whether or not he ended up his career with the Raptors. He'll only be remembered as a Rocket.
