I live at Duval and Mopac and we didn't get the ground covered in pea size pieces, but we got a bunch that were at least golf ball size. Watching the news last night, one of the reporters picked up a piece that she said was golf ball sized that was probably about the size of one of those little rubber super balls. My yard had a bunch of legitimate golf ball sized pieces, with some being bigger. The sounds were really loud and I feel lucky that none of the windows got busted on my car. There are hail dents, but it's a POS car that I'm going to be replacing soon anyway. I guess that we'll have roofing crews throughout the neighborhood in the next couple of weeks.
I live by the Arboretum - didn't see any hail. But it sure would explain why 183 NB was a freaking parking lot starting all the way back at Lamar - and why Mopac SB was almost completely free of cars by the time I got on it.
Looks like I was lucky by a mile or two. All the hail reports were from just north and west from where I'm at. (Mopac @ Steck)
I live in Round Rock off of Sam Bass. Our yard was covered, but it wasn't more than quarter or nickel sized hail. I don't think I had any damage on my car...then again, I don't really care. I'm not putting a dime into that car. I got my wife's car (the nice one) into the garage just in time. I was watching KEYE during the storm. Some moron on some major road (I'm not sure which) had their back window smashed while in the middle lane. What did they do? They stopped right where they were and left the car...in the middle of the highway...during a major storm. Nothing could go wrong there...
UPDATE: I thought that I got away with only a few dents, but now there's a huge crack in my windshield from the hail. At least it's on the passenger side.
i live in west campus, but my friend came over from the quarters and said she drove through hail...i didn't see any, but i heard we may get it again
None in Oak Hill. At least none that I noticed. We've had bad hail storms before, though. I remember being stuck in the parking lot of the Best Buy out here, huge hail stones coming down, just denting the hell out of the old Camry we keep because it's paid for. That was a few years ago. It's weird to be inside a car that's being pounded by big hail stones like that. Trippy.
