If we had won the title that year, JVG would have cracked a smile at half-court for a minute, then taken the following morning off. Maybe.
the cavs didn't make the finals in 05, the pistons did. That team had a great group of guys, but comeon. They weren't anywhere near capable to win a title.
Yea. Thats what I was thinking. Espescially with no Juwan Howard and 6'2" David Wesley. I loved how that team turned it around after the slow start, but we wouldve been run ragged by Phoenix and even if we wouldve gotten past SA, Detroit wouldve been too deep.
We might have won the war in Afghanistan by now. Obama might not have been elected. We might not have a health reform debate. Tiger Woods might still be a clean cut guy. Toyota might still be the most trusted automobile brand. The economy would still suck though...
Yes it did. Or did it? Maybe we're running in parallel scenarios. I wonder what posters in the 04-05 Championship scenario are griping about?
Since I like making **** up, we'd be on a run for a 6 peat after blackmailing Cleveland to trade us draft rights to Lebron. And I'd be a millionaire too just because multi-billionaire Les ran over my puppy on his way to celebrating the 3rd championship and he felt generous.
Michael Vick would of moved to Houston in a trade to replace David Carr. He would never be indicted for his dog fighting charges. The Texans would start what would be a dynasty. +1 Championship Feeling like they need to compete for the cities most popular sports franchise the Astro's bullpen would have grown a pair in the World Series and not coughed up leads in nearly every game. +1 Championship Thus Creating the Tri-fecta Championship era in Houston.
If you didnt like the thread then dont freakin' read it and post your stupid comment. Noone gives a rats ass if you are old. Just because you dont agree what with the OP is saying doesnt mean the message boards are getting to young, thats just a stupid assumption. Going on to what the OP had to say... If we had won a championship instead being involved in a rigged series. 1. JVG would still be our head coach 2. We would be one of the oldest teams in the NBA instead of and up and coming team. Rooks would hardly get a chance to play. 3. We would be boring as hell to watch (not fast paced obviously due to JVG coaching style) 4. We would be paying Mac a phat contract for him to retire as a Rocket 5. We would have wayyyyy less grumpy fans. 6. Clutchfans.net would have 5,000 more users than it does now 7. My last assumption would be this...Daryl Morey would still be the GM of the team but he would find players that fit JVG liking (just as how he found players that Adelman likes)
because the transitive property doesn't apply in sports? and the above post is just too funny. damn kids!!!
That's exactly what ran through my mind the second I saw the title. Heard it elsewhere, I guess on TNT's All Decade program, that if the Kings had won it that year, that's gotta be another dynasty we're talkin' bout later. And on topic, we ain't gonna have too many changes had we won the title that year other than attracting more valuable assets or vets coming over here to help or, say, contribute for another title run.
I loved that team, but "amazing role players"?? David Wesley and Ryan Bowen started during that series.
...and the Aeros would be upgraded to the NHL and kicked major arse all the way to the Stanley Cup. +1 Championship Then MerGady finally takes private PR lessons and learns to shut his mouth forever. +1 for Humanity. Essentially creating a quad-fecta(?) and all of mankind benefits. No more poverty and corruption and sadness in this world.
What IF: The Rockets won the title in '81?? Would Moses have retired in Houston and would there have been multiple chips? Would we have returned to the finals in '86? Would Akeem or Ralph have been drafted. Would we have won in 94 and 95? OMGoodness...my head is spinning
I like discussions on this topic as much as I like the 'what if Jordan hadn't retired?' topic. Although I will say, I don't think it was the officiating as much as it was the fact that Van Horn got hurt so Avery couldn't foolishly play him anymore.
