Randalls considers themselves more upscale than Kroger or Safeways where they aren't just competing on prices but on selection and service. At least that was what Randalls was doing when I lived in Houston so they may have changed. The founder's name is Harry E. Butts. I can see why they went with the acronym.
I wish we had a newer HEB here in the Heights. All we have is a ghetto ass pantry and there is no way I am stepping foot in there. I miss the Royal Oaks store.
Yeah the Flagship Randalls on Voss is so hoity toity. The Kroger on Voss and San Felipe is decent I suppose, but its still more expensive than the good ol' HEB on Fountainview on Westheimer.
Living in Austin, you either grocery shop at one of the many HEB's or WalMart Supercenters. Randall's, at least in Austin, have become glorified convenience stores. They're smaller and much more expensive (you have to have the Randall's card just to get close to HEB prices on the items that have specials). I'm not quite sure what the justification is to keep them open in Austin. They're typically ghost towns...even just after 5 when most stores are packed.
I've had the Trader Joe's beer and its OK. Better than a mass produced Miller or Bud product but not as good as a microbrew or a regionally distributed craft brew. Trader Joe's stores are relatively small and focus on their own brands particularly pre-made world foods. I've had their pot stickers, naan and briyani all of which has been pretty good but had a bad experience once with their creme brulee. A former GF had bought some and was going to make it for a romantic dinner for me but when she took it out of the packaging it was moldy.
They have a DVD section. That's where I picked up My Life, starring Michael Keaton and Nicole Kidman.
Yeah. I don't know if it's still true, but when I was 16 and working at Randall's the store managers were very upfront that Randalls was supposed to be more upscale, and not necessarily the best price.
the one down the street from my house is phenomenal. where else can you buy freshly made sushi, some amazing spinahch and bacon dip, and a 47" hdtv all while getting your prescription filled??
im gonna go ahead and i agree. i dont shop anywhere else. HEB Creamy Creations>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>blue bell best icecream ever. go out and try it. blows out anything you've ever bought from another grocery store
In Fantasyland... That's where! I freaking love the freshly made stuff at HEB... Tortillas, Sushi, you name it... There's even a Kosher deli at the HEB by my place - I have yet to try it, but that stuff looks awesome too!
Whoa, let's not blaspheme, now. HEB is the best grocery store, bar none. And Creamy Creations is, without a doubt, the best store-brand ice cream. But better than Blue Bell? Bite your tongue.
I'm going to have to disagree with you. Any ice cream that names itself Spurs Slam Dunk Chocolate Chunk is complete and utter garbage IMO. Spoiler VOMIT
its not everyone its just him trying to beat a dead horse there was some thread where a guy asked a name of a movie and it was my life and everyone in there kept saying the same thing i guess he is trying to make it the new "i think he is called goorzefesgrux or something" now
HEB Creamy Creations, like most of their branded products, is pretty good. Don't dare, however, say it comes anywhere near Blue Bell.
I know, I really hate it when posters do that kind of thing. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/7QLSRMoKKS0&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/7QLSRMoKKS0&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
