Gym Etiquette/Peeves

This doesn't annoy me, but rather I find awesome. I'm talking about the guy still rocking the circa 90's era cd player in the gym.

Only thing I get a little annoyed about is people working out together in groups of 3-4 or larger. Like if they get on a machine or bench, those guys will be on it for at least 20 minutes.

1. Cell phones. There are no need for cell phones in the gym weightlifting area, basketball court, or even the locker rooms. No one is that f@ckin important. Leave it your locker. This goes x 3 in the sauna because your conversation echos.
2. The gym is NOT, I repeat NOT a singles bar. Sure there is plenty of hot ass everywhere you look. If you want to start up a conversation, great, but keep it short and sweet. Else, get the hell out of the way of the piece of equipment I'm in line to use. This goes for your buddies too. Shoot the **** off to the side.
3. Its a gym, you are going to sweat (if you doing it right). Please use proper hygiene, including double deodorant if you have to. I know you can smell yourself. There is nothing worse than trying to run and being unable to catch your breath because the guy beside you smells so bad. Also, always carry a towel.
4. Especially if high volume times of the day, don't hog all the weights. I know drop sets and/or super sets play a pivotal role in training or bodybuilding, but you have to respect the other members. Besides, I don't want to trip on it.
5. For the love of God, re-rack your weights. And in ORDER. I hate going to a rack where the first place is a 25, the next is a 10, the next is a 2.5, followed by two 45 pound plates. Lazy asses.
6. During times of high volume and there are signs clearly posted to limit your cardio time to X minutes, follow the damn rules. If you want more time, go lift more weights for 5-10 minutes and find another machine.
7. Before you add weight to the machines, learn how to use them properly. It cracks me up watching people with far too much weight on a particular machine not even using the muscles the machine was designed to train. You're asking for an injury and you look like a moron. A perfect example is the assisted pull-up bar.
8. Learn to run properly. Sounds simple, but so many people can't even use the treadmill in the manner its meant to be used. The only sounds you should be hearing are the hum of the engine and your breathing. You should not be able to hear your feet pounding on the treadmill.
9. Learn how to use other cardio equipment properly. If you're holding on to the sides of the treadmill, elliptical, stair climber, or any cardio machine for anything more than a little balance, your level is too high and you're not getting near as much benefit from its use.
10. Cover your junk when walking through the locker room. I understand you have to remove your towel to remove/put on underwear, but other than that, pleaes keep it covered.

another thing... be discreet when checking out other people... It's OK to look but don't stare like a creep. I have plenty of hot friends who say they won't go to the gym now because of this happening.

I hate working out this time of year. It's peak season for all the New Year's resolutions and people who want to get that "beach body" for spring break. I had to change my workout schedule from after class around 4 to 10 o'clock at night just so I can use the weights I want too.

Also I play basketball everyday and I hate the people who just shoot the ball every time they get it. Triple teamed and they'll still throw up a running hook shot from the 3-point line. Also I played basketball yesterday, 1 and 2's to 15 and the other team had 7 players and were subbing every two possessions so we had to check ball even on a fast break. Not only were they doing that but they were also full court pressing (1-2-1-1) trap. Honestly who does this crap in pick up basketball games?

I know seriously. I love bringing the ball up and playing point guard. When playing I play to have fun and to make sure that everyone on our team is having fun. My goal is to get everyone involved in our offense. I mean sure a couple times during the game I'll bring it up and pull up for a three or drive to basket but my first priority is getting everyone involved.
