My number 1 pet peeve at the gym. Spoiler people who fart. not only are they making it difficult for me to breath when running on the treadmill. they are also implicating me a suspect!
sometimes you just gotta let it out dude. I know I do because later on while running i'll be getting cramps in my abdomen area.
Kindly note that I have but one pet peeve, when I am executing my routine: It is when women approach me with the intent to court. In the past, I would respectfully suggest that these women reschedule our session for a later time and date. However, this quickly became an action item, as one can imagine - It became difficult to complete my routine in a timely manner, while fielding several requests an evening from various fit females. I then had the great fortune to discuss the matter with the owner of the gymnasium. (I do not address the staff or management, as they are typically ineffectual). We came together on a most effective solution: Signs was posted indicating that all attractive women une their FM radios to 88.9 to listen to a special message from raj. For those with Iphones, we had a podcast uploaded to Itunes. In the end, raj was happy with consistently completing his routine in a timely manner, while the women were happy with being satisfied in an orderly manner.
That's fine, but can you at least take credit for it. Just a raise of the the hand and a simple "that was me, I got it" should suffice. Like a guard trying to keep a big man out of foul trouble.
This time of the year always makes these threads pop up on all the forums around. Right now all the gyms are packed, half the people have no idea what they are doing and for those of us that like to get in and get out it makes it difficult, but i was one of those guys once too, i just stuck with it. Ive been going to the gym regularly for almost a year now, lost 80lbs last year going to the gym about 5x a week, i go to a small gym, i dont talk to anyone but know whos there all the time and whos not. Ever since new year the gym has been completely packed. My biggest peeves are definitely; 1. wiping the machines down, i hate going to a machine and someone else's sweat is all over it. 2. Guests and kids, it annoys me to no end that guy who cant go to the gym alone and brings someone all the time taking up space. My gym also lets you bring kids in under 18 free, screw that, i use condoms for a reason, i dont want to deal with your kid at the gym, especially when you havent taught them the rules to the gym. 3. the 5lb increase rod, its never attached to the machine, its always laying under the machine next to you and of course someone is on it. Guilty: I use my blackberry as my as my mp3 player, i dont run, i usually "power walk" i guess, between 4mph and 5mph, but its worked for me, im down to 260 now so i guess its time to start jogging some. I text or chat while waiting between reps on the machines, havent toyed with free weights much just been working on cardio and a few machines. And sometimes you gotta let one out.
I hate it when women continue to ask me to shower with them after clearly I have already showered three times with other girls after a workout. I'm not a machine
The douchebag who jumps rope as fast as he can right in the middle of the gym so everyone has to kinda walk around him. I believe he's also the same guy who does handstand pushups in the free weight area. I'm at 24 Hour in midtown so a lot of the guys look exactly the same.
People also pay the same amount of money to go to a movie. Would you be okay with the guy who doesn't set his cell phone on vibrate or talks during the movie? Its called etiquette. The other mentioned are peeves and people asking to get hurt. Ever seen a guy tear a muscle using improper form or too much weight? Its not a pretty sight and if I had to guess, worse pain than than childbirth.
Although there are warning boards in the locker room everywhere, there are guys still use the hair dryer to dry the other part of their body. Once I even saw a sucker naked at the "area" (dont know how to call it but a place in the locker room with mirror and hair dryers where everyone are supposed to be dressed up properly already before check out) and using the hair dryer to dry his private part! The other time another sucker used the hair dryer to dry his socks. I complained a couple times but once a while, there's always a b*stard with such gross behaviour in the locker room.
Fat chicks in tight gym outfits, 20 lbs of pure ass bluber bouncing around on a treadmill is not a very pleasant sight. With that said, ladies please wear normal loose clothing like sweatpants and a t-shirt. Also the shirtless dude trying to pimp his body is a douche! Yeah we get it your abs are the result of spending your entire day at the gym, now get a life! Finally the fitness intructor who feeds his own esteem everytime he tells you that you can be like him, the epitome of human physique if only you worked harder even though he looks like a midget with boobs!
This. There's always some nasty guys who don't believe in personal hygiene so the heat and the force of air expelling from the blow dryer spreads this rank smell and ***** particles in the air for you to breathe/taste...
You know, I googled that after Ronny posted it because it piqued my curiousity due to the ridiculousness... and that thread was the first link that came up. http://www.google.com/#hl=en&source=hp&q=slap+the+elephant's+trunk&aq=f&aqi=&oq=&fp=435311d5ec9ae78f
I don't use a gym, but I walk by one on my way to Spec's. I have a serious pet peeve about how poorly the members park, particularly when it makes me have to walk further to my little bastion of alcohols and fine cheeses.
I disagree....on the treadmill, you can actually adjust the incline, or force yourself to keep a better pace. Furthermore, you can monitor yourself and get instantaneous feedback while also enjoying your favorite shows as you work out. There are lots of annoying things about a gym, but to me, this issue isn't one at all.
Staying on any machine for more than an hour in the gym is just plain inconsiderate to others who may be wanting to use the machine.
