It is mind boggling how ridiculous this thread is. I can't believe I read it. Further, I can't believe I felt the urge to reply. Can someone start a thread where one person calls another person "great" and then we can have an argument about whether that was offensive?

Should we all kill ourselves now? Is the apocalypse nigh?

    Hey, *******, I voted for the *******!

    Me, The Perverted Wingnut ;)

I'm just so glad that the ability and willingness to discuss ideas openly has not died out with this new Democratic Administration.

I really like the "Elite" icing. Not too sweet, but oh so tasty.

i didn't call you perverted, you guys have perverted the term to refer to I don't know what, and then balk at someone who used it the way it should be used. because you can't get past the perverted meaning, whatever it is

    The year.... 1992....

"What George W. Bush is is the leading edge of this whole new generation of young, white, educated elite officials who are really taking charge..."

    Call the paramedics!

I didn't say it was offensive; I implied that it was inappropriate. I reckon if you weren't so busy "worshiping" Obama you might consider the case...

I love how the wingnuts apply this logic, yeah, if you ignore the history of this country and black males in this country, its offensive. If you just look at the fact that she's trying express how far black men have come, that one can be president, then you're just being stupid

Yes, I have so many posts on here "worshiping" him. Like when I said he had no chance of winning a year or so ago. You are trying extra hard to be "stupid" again, aren't you? I know you have admitted to it in the past - you think it is fun.

But, yeah, I know you didn't write the word "offensive", I also know you didn't write the word "great". I know this because I wrote those words. My example is just as dumb as implying usage of the word "elite" as offensive.

Hey - do you want me to blow your mind? I know I only love Obama and can't think for myself but GWB was and is elite. Clinton was and is elite. Reagan, Carter, Nixon, the Founding Fathers, Bill Gates, William F Buckley Jr, Chief Justice Roberts, etc., etc. - all elite in their time. Other than the personal privacy thing, I would kill to be as elite as they are/were. Man, I feel dirty with all of that inappropriateness!

    Shoot. Me. Now.

My point being that she settled upon an awkward and grandiose way to express it. If it were said that way about someone you oppose, you would hit the roof.

That's not true. I oppose much of What George Will is in favor of, but I'd see he's one of the elite. I would even say the first George Bush was elite.

As others have said it all comes down to elite vs. elitism.

Reverse vitiligo. So much for being, in your own words, a "somewhat educated black person".

Not really. PG is a rockets fan. But if you told him that Deron Willliams or Chris Paul were elite point guards, would he hit a roof? No.

You're apparently trying through some means of dumbassery which I don't really comprehend to turn this thread into some weird form of race-baiting.

Take others' advice and stop digging.

Politics is far more complex than point guard play. There is also a lot more at stake. Ifill seems prepared to give Obama carte blanche. Ifill made it about race, not me. All of you seem to be willing to give nodding assent...

This has nothing to do with politics or race and everything to do with your inability/unwillingness to read a dictionary/inherent douchebaggery threadstartingness.
