that makes 2 of us edit: my dormmate didnt watch sports at all, the only reason ever he would put on espn would be to watch the band ppl do their thing.
DT and I have this friend who doesn't really follow sports too much. He knows a thing or two about a thing or two, but for the most part, he's pretty clueless. The one thing he does know is F the Spurs.
Exactly, there's a good example that I couldn't come up with. A lot of these casual sports fans think players should be perfect on the court because of all the money they make. I look at it from a basketball perspective more than a professional perspective I guess...I don't think about how much money they are making while they are playing, and neither do the players or coaches. If money was factor on the court then Spoon, Baker, and Moochie would be getting minutes. I've played basketball my whole life and it has always been my favorite sport, so I understand how hard it can be to do what these guys do (and I haven't even played close to the level they play on). That last play where Howard stripped the ball was a break for the Mavs, and you can't blame that on Tracy. It happened so fast that Tracy didn't even know the ball hit him. Unfortunately I have a lot of people like this around me and in my family, so I usually prefer to watch the games alone...the games get to me enough, depending on the outcome. As far as other sports go, I haven't played as much football but I know a ton about it too, as well as baseball. I don't watch as much baseball though because MLB's revenue structure is a joke.
most of my friends either: -play poker -hunt -play hockey -play basketball -snowboard -follow sports like a sportsaholic. only one of my (guy) friends does all of those (like i do) and only one of them does none of those, but he's the school quarterback and lives right beside me in the dorm. guys who don't do at least one of those simply doesn't have enough in common with me to "chill," i mean, i'm not an ass to them or anything - they're still alright people - i still talk to them, i'd just never hang out with them outside of the dorm or during the summer.
Sigh. Whatever floats y'all's boats. (interesting observations) Agreed on baseball. Football is OK but only if you have some sort of emotional attachment to the team (i.e. it's your school). Hmmm. That may explain a lot. Well, you know what they say about basketball: "Got to get it up, to get it in."
I drove back to College Station in the middle of game 4. I was throwing things in my car, screaming, pumping my fist, and making the three sign the entire time. It a wonder that I didn't get pulled over or crash.
I have some friends that follow sports, and some that don't. I think we all have varying degrees though that sports affects your life. I get really upset after a loss this late in the season....to the point that people are afraid to be around me. I just think it's weird that someone can not be interested in sports, but sometimes I wish i could do it.
This cracked me up. I can imagine driving down the road and looking over at you as you were doing the 3 sign.
yeah, i was in the parking lot of the widespread show gathering around peoples' cars with random fans. pretty cool experience. losing the game totally "harshed my mellow," as one of my fellow inebriated friends so eloquently put it.
