I said when Adelman was brought in that the defense would slowly deteriorate. I assumed it would slip last season (and I was wrong) but as time goes by guys are going to not work as hard and get into bad habits. Very, very few guys like playing defense. Even guys who are great defenders often don't like doing it. Unless the coach is pounding defense into the players' heads day after day they will not keep the same intensity. Now I never thought it would be a big problem because I assumed the offense would get much better. So far that is not happening consistently.
i think last yr, the D slipped for a stretch b/c we didn't do any defensive drills and just focused on offense. and i think that's what they're doing right now. b/c it's offense this and that after every game. we have the players to play both sides of the ball. why can't he make us consistent on both sides of the ball (even when we're healthy)?
Couldn't agree more. Memphis' shot percentage for the first half in last night's game is actually over 60%. You can call it a "fluk" but what about those wide open 3's? It really bothers me. Suddenly having JVG back is not an idea too far off topic.
