Yeah, I just heard that too. So what does this mean then? Another tactic to inflate ratings or is this a serious situation? Now their talking about rebuilt homes in the area after Katrina that could be affected....
The news anchors and weatherman are beating that issue to death. Nobody has any answers on how this came to be, especially in light of Katrina.
It is a serious issue for Plaquemines parish, but also was expected and is why the state and local government has insisted that everyone get out of that area. This was a private levee that the parish has been trying to get incorporated into the federal system and could only strengthen it so much without it being in the federal levee system. I believe they also said that only 250 houses may be at risk. I hate saying that, but in the grand scheme of things and in comparison to Katrina and other regions currently affected by Gustav, it's not that many.
I'm ready to move on, looks like N.O. has survived. CNN just had a reporter LIVE along the Industrial Canal and the water levels have gone way down...
Gustav, Hannah, Ike......all look menacing....but take a look at that sucker coming off the cost of Africa now, it already has circulation, and is fairly low in lattitude. That is the one I think will be brutal....it just looks mean and organized really really early. DD
She will be Josephine in a matter of days..... Anyone else get a kick out of the name "Hurricane Nana?"
The National Hurricane Center is just another government entity that doesn't care about ratings. It's those tv stations.
The National Hurricane Center really nailed the intensity of the storm. It's only a miniscule 4% margin of error.
Or, because of the hype people got out of it's way minimizing the loss of life and impact of the storm. DD
Nagin and other government officials may have been overly dramatic about the storm, but they had to so that people would get the message that they have to get out.
It was a Cat2 And Anderson Cooper said himself even in the worst parts of NO there was hardly no damage at all. It was over hyped like usual
And other than Jindal and Nagin saying some levees still have water coming through them, and a parish south of New Orleans had a levee breach, nothing happened. You're right. Don't forget about Lafayette's levees, which are barely holding up.
You're right. Nagin and Jindal should've gone to the podium and said that the storm might not be that bad and there's nothing to worry about so that when it did intensify and make a last second turn there would be hundreds if not thousands of deaths. That's what they should've done.
