Waterspout just came inland from offshore going into the Belle Chasse area from the water... now a Tornado...

A rogue element tornado moving out of sync with the band movement...

This is wild... the way we can monitor this from a laptop...

24 foot waves at the mouth of the river! currently read...

34 foot wave on a bouy just off shore!

    Dude!

    conflicting data, i suppose:

Looks to me like it's headed west of NOLA enough to spare it of what we most feared, despite the graphic i just posted. Of course any slight wobble to the north could change that.

Concerned about a little jog to the west on radar...kinda looks like it's wanting to hug the coastline.

EDIT: apparently concerned for nothing because local guys are giving us 20% chance of rain today. :)

I am so happy this morning that the predictions of intensification did not occur. As we look back there were many mistakes on forecasting this storm, ALL GOOD!
They said Cuba would not disrupt the circulation. Wrong. They said that it would pass an area of very warm water in the Gulf and it would blow up into cat 5. Wrong. What was right were the guidance models; it stayed on the predicted track. Anyway, thank God that this thing was largely defused before landfall. What a relief. Now if it doesn't drop twenty inches of rain on us, we will have dodged a bullet.

So this storm looks to be a major over hyped fizzle.

It took time for the levees to fail during Katrina.

did it go over the top or did the levee fail ? If it just went over the top they can pump it out, if the levee failed - well we know what happens...

why is it that these news reporters feel the need to be inside the storm to do a coverage?

it's almost as if they are not human.

Water was blowing over the levee. It's not enough to even pump. The levee did NOT fail. At this point, the local newscasters are still very happy.
