I guess. But I don't think we will know much inside of +/- 200 miles East or West till Sunday afternoon.
honestly, i agree...i think if it comes this way, it's not going to give us much warning. which makes it a helluva lot worse, frankly. it will be pretty close to land if not over land when the high starts to steer it, from all i can tell.
My Dad works in the Shriner's Hospital in Galveston and they are evacuating their patients. Right now they say as a precaution, but we're pretty worried. We're just going to keep watching it maybe for another day. I had a car I moved North (we live in Texas City) just to try to get it a little away from the coast (its a show car). Hopefully it doesn't hit. But, my parents own a RV Bus type thing, and we are fully prepared to get up and go.
That's really interesting. UTMB isn't evacuating at all: And the Galveston mayor isn't calling an evacuation: I really feel like there's a big cloud of denial here right now because the Rita evac was such a clusterf--- and the town closed up shop a few weeks ago for a relative dud of a tropical storm. But I'm not taking any chances. I'm actually taking a break right now from boarding up my house. I'm leaving around 6 PM tonight to head up to the Dallas area. Best case scenario is that I'm totally wrong and I get a little surprise road trip. Worst case is that I wake up Tuesday and my house in Galveston and job at UTMB are gone.
Hurricanes fascinate me...lol I hope it skirts the coast as it does that u-turn so maybe no school for a day...
Ok, wtf?!...heard from my wife's relatives. Two from the Laffayette area evacuated to Houston today...but the ones from NO can't get out...why? Because the gas stations are ONLY accepting cash and ATMS are running out of money. Seriously if you're gonna issue a mandatory evaluation then don't make it more difficult for people to get out.
Glad to hear about UTMB. Makes our jobs easier. It's hectic as hell up here in angelina county, they landed a freaking C-130 on AC airport yesterday is what i heard today at work. they're worried about rain/wind when it comes inland and across Tx/La border.
Do not make light of a life and death situation...this isn't about Republicans or Democrats, this isn't about the government's willingness to help or lack thereof...this about my wife's FAMILY trying to get out of the way of a Category 5 hurricane bearing straight on a city that barely survived the last one.
Well Houston is where the rest of the family is...so that's where they're trying to get I'd imagine... sure Houston could get hit with this...but where we live we don't have to worry about storm surge or massive flooding...just wind and rain and possible tornado.
You're a ****tard. This is a serious storm and not at all a joking matter, you assclown. Hey, I have an idea. How about you report this post to the moderator?
Here in Beaumont (Jefferson Co) they already laided down mandatory evacuation for tommorow at 6am...I just pray to God everyone in its way stays safe.
