It seems both parties involved, Darvish and Gurriel, both understand the mistake that Gurriel made and have moved past it. Now if we can only get the posters still trying to defend Yulis behavior the same level of awareness...
Here in LA the news afterwards showed the clip probably 20 times in a 2 minute span. Then they went out to bars where they were live asking people about it etc. The media is going to push this as much as they can at this point. Stupid stupid move by him in every way. Need to end this series here cause in LA he is gonna be attacked
Just like Bob McNair using a common saying that has literally been uttered probably billions of time throughout history is somehow controversial. No it's not. It's not controversial at all. Someone will say it tomorrow in a place of business and it will still not be a controversial statement.
Post right below yours and everyone else who tries to sweep away racism with "people are too sensitive nowadays". Sprinkled all over this thread.
How many times has it been said to black players by a Trump donor in a meeting about police brutality of black people? BILLIONS of times!
There are always going to be people offended by everything, and people offended by nothing. And yes a lot of times there is faux outrage and reaching when it comes to labeling something as racist. The problem is people DON'T take it on a case by case basis and blanket "people are too sensitive" on every single social and racial issue that pops up. On top of that racism against Asians is brushed aside in US society. It gets to the point where other people from other races believe they have the right to determine what I should and shouldn't get offended by. Ridiculous.
The reason why is because most Americans have "racism" fatigue, including many people of color even. This is the boy who cried wolf syndrome. I'm so sick of hearing that everything is racism. Bob McNair's comments were not racist. They weren't even controversial. They are being made to be controversial by people that want to make an issue out of everything. Same thing in a different sort of way with Yuli.
And telling white people that they are privileged because they are white should also be considered to be a racist remark.
Yup. I don't know what disappoints me more. People trying to sweep Yuli's actions under the rug, or the people pretending to care about racism against Asians just so they can get Yuli suspended.
i just hope neither player let's outside influence dictate anything . Yu and Yuli have already probably talked about it and have moved on . If not , Yu can bean him in the ass next time they face off hahaha . I don't understand how people can see one little thing and assume so much about a person . As and aside ... When you were a kid did you ever do that to your eyes ? How would you know how Asian people felt about it unless you asked them yourselves ? The amount of instant judgement in our society is sickening . I see people taking "offense" for Yu ... And it makes me understand how Trump won the election .
Never would condone racism, especially being mixed myself... However... Regarding the MLB, ummmmm the Cleveland Indians? The logo? To me that’s a whole bigger issue at hand if you wanna talk about racism. Funny how pride of sports teams can strengthen your agenda on what to focus on at a certain time. Wonder if these same LA fans screaming for Yuli’s suspension are the same ones in uproar over the Indians logo. Just a thought.
