I live in NYC. Zero guns. One of safest cities in America, no need for a gun. If zombie apocalypse happens you know they will just fire bomb Manhattan and kill us all.
How do you like that SR22. I'm thinking of getting one. I also want a LaRue but it is hard for me to justify spending 3K for a AR rifle.
Its a freaking nanny state, cameras are everywhere, and we used to have a rather controversial police policy... http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-m...l-bloomberg-says-new-york-safest-big-city-us/ I'm not sure its THE SAFEST, per Bloomberg, but its no Detroit or Memphis.
I enjoy it and it's lots of fun. Low recoil, not loud and a great beginner gun. When ever a novice tags along to the shooting range or lease I always have them use the SR22 and they quickly become comfortable.
I don't know your level of familiarity or how comfortable you are, but I'd recommend building an AR yourself. Or the just lower receiver, at least. That's what I did -- I built a Stag Arms lower and married it to a Bravo Co. upper. It's a damn good rifle and it didn't cost me anywhere near $3K.
Agreed 100%. I'm running a Palmetto State Armory Lower, the rest is aftermarket. I had a pretty good Vortex magnifier/red dot (200-300$) & I elected to get the trijicon acog which is extremely expensive (& worth it). If I would stayed with the vortex, my build would've been estimated to cost me around 1100$. You can build yourself a very solid AR for about a little bit over a grand. & if you're willing to spend 3K on AR cause you don't want to build one, might as well buy yourself a Scar or LVOA, which you practically don't need to do anything to.
