I have 6. Nothing particularly spectacular. Mostly just for weekend fun, and a little bit for zombie apocalypse home protection. My collection: - 2 shotguns (12 gauge an 20 gauge) - 2 .22 rifles (single shot and semi-automatic) - A .32 calibur FN Browning 1922 pistol (this one is pretty cool) - A small .380 handgun How bout the rest of ClutchFans? This is Texas after all.

i'm actually in the market for a pistol but i'm not sure what to get. i don't want to spend more than $500, any suggestions?
I just bought this "Disaster kit (w/sigma 9)" from Academy for $350 on clearance: I also will must be prepared for the hoard of lifeless freaks. Spoiler I have a couple of other revolvers too.
I'm thinking about getting a Glock 19. They seem to be pretty accurate/reliable for around that pricerange.
You need to make sure to only use them with the more recently made magazine. They had several style changes on the 19 and the older magazines do not cycle well through the newer generation bodies.
I'd love a glock but my eyes have been on a .45 for a while but I can't see myself spending $2000 on a Colt. Anyone have a Taurus 1911 and how is working for you so far?
Why would you spend 2000 on a Colt? Get a 1991. They might be what. 750-800 now? I think you can even get a Series 70 for a grand.
If more than ten is an arsenal, I had one before I moved to Canada this past summer. I divested myself of quite a few.......they hold their value pretty well. Got rid of an M1 Garand, a DPMS LR-308, three revolvers, and three autos. I regret selling a few, but oh well.....still have several hunting longarms and an old pistol that was my dad's.
I had a Para Ordnance 1911, and I'd highly recommend that. It has a much better extractor than the Colt (a weak point on 1911s), and it's about 30% less.
Personally I don't feel anything double stack is a 1911. Colt uses a barstock extractor, PO is MIM. Colt uses more barstock and less MIM than almost any non-semi-custom or custom pistol.
im in the market for a shotgun for home defense/walking dead/"the road"-type scenario. ive read alot of good stuff about the mossburg 590 and even saw that its popular w/ the military too. any owners or opinions?
I've actually never bought a gun in Houston. I can tell you that from what I've heard, Carters has a bad reputation for being pretty pricey. I mean, honestly if you know EXACTLY what you want, you can do your research and shop around, and you may be able to find a deal at a show or something. Other than that, as long as you're getting a mainstream gun there's probably no reason not to just go to Academy or someplace similar.
