There are various factors at play, one main factor being the oil money Saudi Arabia got and then that they started exporting their fanatical wahhabist version of Islam to the world. Globalization and the internet later helped even more to spread ideas, even bad ones such as political Islam. Why you are posting as if you were a bit slow mentally, I don't know. These guys should not be an ally. It makes me puke to see the Bush family hugging them, and Prince Charles and whoever else cuddling up to them. They are like a more established version of ISIS. It's disgusting that the West, including my own country, keeps selling them arms. They are behind much of what is going on in terms of radicalization of Islam.
I'm following the implications of your comments. You seem to be blaming the Internets and oil money rather than Islam for Islamic terrorism. This is a departure for you in which I believe you've called Islam a death cult. The Quran is the same as it's been for 1,400 years but nobody knew Islam called for terrorism until they were told on the internets and that's when they knew they had to hate us for our freedoms. Maybe you should spell out the cause of Islamic terrorism and how American foreign policy has played no role.
Nope - I blame Islam. These are enabling factors which helped the poisonous ideology to spread. Islam has been violent from the beginning and Mohammed himself did many of the things ISIS is doing now (rape, slavery, beheadings, hate against Jews, intolerance, etc.).
You are disconnecting "poisonous ideology" from Islam by claiming that "poisonous ideology" is spreading around the world despite the fact Islam is 1,400 years old and is a worldwide religion. Islam has already been spread around the world for centuries. The Quran is and has been read around the world before the internets and Saudi oil. So your post is fundamentally illogical. I grew up with Muslims in my neighborhoid, they wore head scarfs and observed Ramadan and nary a terrorist act was committed. Do you think maybe they never read the Quran and all that violent **** in there? Maybe they just didn't believe it and weren't real Muslims? They probably understand it better now and make pipe bombs on the weekend I bet.
Na they probably don't But they probably don't care too much when they hear about other muslims that do so either
heard about this on NPR yesterday morning. The only real long term solution is internal stability in the country.
That still doesn't make the ideology a respectable one. I never said that all Muslims are bad people, but the ideology is bad. Those Muslims who do not believe in or follow, for instance, the following despicable parts of the teachings of Islam I have no problem with: - no equal rights of women (which is actually symbolized by the headscarf, but also by behavioral patterns like not shaking women's hands, etc.) - discrimination and persecution of gays - sanctioning "apostasy" with death or anything else - discrimination of believers of other faiths, or no faith at all - intolerance in general (e.g. trying to dictate separate times specifically for Muslims in public swimming pools, trying to dictate what may or may not be used in satirical publications in non-Muslim countries) - and, of course, any form of violence as an expression of the overall intolerance of Islam The problem is that we are not talking about just the fringe of the 1B+ Muslims believing in all or many of these things. All or many of them are part of mainstream Islam, and hundreds of millions of Muslims follow them. I don't have a problem with them following Ramadan or praying as often as they wish in private, or believing in Allah or whatever. Just because some Muslims in your neighborhood didn't blow anyone up doesn't mean that the ideology as a whole is respectable, unless it undergoes significant reform. If your standard of why you demand respect for Islam is as low as saying "I know some Muslims who have not committed terrorism so Islam must be great", then that is actually insulting to all tolerant and peaceful Muslims out there.
Eh, why not? Contrary to popular belief, most of the people killed in these terrorist attacks are Muslims.
No, you're trying to change the goal posts. Discrimination and intolerance is not terrorism otherwise Republicans would be a terrorist group. You've made an unsubstantiated leap from not respectable to "death cult" and the root cause of terrorism. Asking again, what is the root cause of Islamic terrorism?
You are. If you do not understand the correlation between intolerance and its ultimate expression, which is violence and terrorism, then I cannot help you.
Boy, I really didn't know you were so embarrassingly pathetic. I mean you run around here Islam death cult this and that but you can't explain the root cause of Islamic terrorism except to say the ultimate expression of intolerance is violence? Jesus Christ. I don't know why I bothered but at least everyone knows factually now that you're bereft of a clue.
It's called cognitive dissonance. Most of your Muslim friends and my family were born into Islam, thus they didn't make the active decision to be Muslim. This means that many of their actual moral values that they apply day to day don't come from Islam. When they are presented with violent or misogynistic text they brush it off with 'out of context' or 'not the correct interpretation'. They didn't do the research themselves. They just mimic what other Muslim apologists state and take their word for it.
