The guys I've heard will change the loop. The same bass-line won't loop the whole time. i mean, hell, I think Keller Williams will switch to playing lead bass while looping the guitar, then back again to guitar while looping bass...all with different rhythm guitar riffs coming in and out.

Or you can be Mississippi John Hurt and do a three finger pickin style.

Yep. That's why I keep those two idiots in my closet and only use the loop station.

I know a guy who has a "band" that plays a bunch of weddings. He calls it a "band" but it's really just an elaborate DJ setup. He plays guitar, his wife plays piano, and they just contract out the singers and horn players. When the client wants a full band (with a live drummer), he calls me and I sub with them.

All he does is puts in a disc for each song that has all the instrumental tracks minus the vocals and he and his wife pretend to play while the singers sing along with the tracks. I don't even know if his wife knows how to play the piano or not. Her keyboard isn't even plugged in. The horn players just dance around and play occasional solos. The people are totally clueless. They don't care, all they want to do is dance and drink.

When I sub with them, I just set up a small kit in the very back and play quietly all night. He doesn't even tell me what song we're doing before he starts it. I'll just start playing as soon as I figure it out. The drums aren't miked and the instrumental tracks are so loud, no one can hear what I'm doing anyway, so it doesn't matter. I'm just there for looks.

    Easiest gig ever.
