Man I remember starting playing 2 years ago, I thought there was no chance in hell I'd ever be able to pull off a Barre Chord or even do a G to C progression, just takes so much practice to be able to really start to get comfortable with it, now I've even written a couple songs, can play most of the easier songs. Next up: scales.
I learned the pentatonic scale across the fretboard before I could do a barre chord. I just turned any barres into a power chord. Somehow it just happens.
http://www.cyberfret.com/scales/basic/page2.php check this out - 5 useful scales. learn the minor pentatonic (2nd one) first - its the easiest. then you add the "blue note" and you have the blues scale. learn how to walk it up and back down and just do it note by note - G scale then G# scale then A scale and so on. now you got the blues! the sky will be crying in no time! this is the foundation of 'soloing' - if you dont know your scales your solos will be all wack yo! http://www.chordbook.com/guitarchords.php this one is a good reference for those dreaded 'chords'!
thanks for all the advice i had a friend tell me to learn arab scales or something like that a while back i dont remember
