    At 4-10, the Rockets have the WORST division record in the Western Conference.

    At 12-17, the Rockets have the WORST conference record of the current 8 playoff teams. It is also the 3RD WORST conference record in the Western Conference. Only Clippers and Suns have a worst conference record.

    What that should tell you is this:

    IF we make it to the playoffs we will not survive the first round. Ok, that's fine since all we wanted to do was make the playoffs. But, if we get knocked out easily in the first round, and we still have the worst conference record, we show that we didn't even derserve to be in the playoffs in the first place, and are farther away from being a contender than we initially thought we were.

    But I say IF cause that's assuming we make the playoffs. Since our remaining schedule includes more Western teams than Eastern teams, we have a chance at digging our own hole, again. Of our remaining 28 games, 23 are against Western Conference teams. Definitely NOT GOOD.

    Well if worse comes to worse and the Rockets miss the playoffs, at least they get their lottery pick.

    It's noteworthy because it was only 3 games.

    You just noticed this NOW? Uh oh, seven of next eight against the West...

    This is when the wheels start to fall off...

    Everybody in the western conference plays the same teams the same number of times. In playoff seedings, it doesn't matter who you beat (except for tie breakers). A win versus a western conference elite team is the same as a eastern conference scrub team. You don't get bonus points for beating Sacramento. They deserve to be in the playoffs if they have enough wins to warrent it. I think the rockets can make a decent playoff series against anybody in the western conference except maybe Dallas.

    I guess math isn't your stong subject, buddry.

    Would you rather go .500 against Dallas, San Antonio, or Sacramento collectively, or .500 against Orlando, Atlanta, and Washington?

    .500 x 12 = 6 wins
    .500 x 6 = 3 wins

    Or, let's say that you go .667 against one conference and .333 against another conference.

    .667 x 52 = 34 wins
    .333 x 30 = 10 wins
    total = 44 wins

    .667 x 30 = 20 wins
    .333 x 52 = 17 wins
    total = 37 wins

    So, would you rather do well against the West or the East?

    ...not to mention the tiebreakers. Let's say the Rockets make a run late, tie Dallas in the standings, but only finish 1-3 against them in the regular season. Would you trade one of those wins against Washington for a win against Dallas? I bet you would...

    What's more scary is that the Rockets played least conference games in the West. That mean the Rockets have to play more conference games than other teams in the West. Damn! :(

    Making the playoffs is one thing, but being humiliated in the first round and having it look like the Rockets don't even deserve to be in there having a horrid division and conference record....well, i guess that would mean there should be an asterisk somewhere.

    Now 4-11. The playoffs are not a lock people. Portland has now won 5 in a row and closing in fast. Don't count your chickens before they hatch.
