I agree. Yang and Yao are best of friends. They are like cheech and chong, like jen and ben, adeel and shakira, steve and cat, pettite and clemens....

hgpan, I personally appreciate your efforts. But by now you should know that some of the other people don't. So just stop posting the articles. Do not waste your time.

This has nothing to do with being self-righteous or "ethno-centric", although I correctly predicted that eventually somebody would call me one or both of those things for questioning the plausibility of this story and the cult of Yao by implication, so I guess I am self righteous in that I just pointed out that I was correct.

It has to do with facts and logic, guys who cover the Rockets for years and years have a better chance of knowing what is going on than guys who don't. I haven't seen Fox 26 getting scooped by Yang Yi or Sohu on anything Rockets related of substance (player moves, etc.) unless the issue is whether or not Yao ate two pieces of sausage at breakfast which they are generally all over.

Now, if Yao is secretly feeding info to Yang Yi, bully for him, but it's just as likely that the other 11 players would talk to the media as well -- and I'm not hearing anything from them.

Not during a pre-game speech. For shootaround, yes, they go back and talk. But the locker room is off limits after a certain point, particularly with JVG there. He absolutely hates having any media in there.

Thing about this guy is that he is passing himself as a "reporter." This sounds more like a note written by a pissed off 15-year-old to his "best friend" about how Mr. Smith, the grumpy old algebra teacher, makes them all do stupid, lame homework all the time.

I feel like we need the translation that includes...

"So, Van Gudy was all, 'Be more agressive, Yao!' And I was all, 'Don't let him diss you like that, man.' and Yao was all, 'Dude, he's the coach, man. Chill.' And I was all, 'Whatever.'"

At first, it's mere sarcasm. Fine. But now it turns to racist comments, which I cannot stand any more. If you try to insult a nation by commenting all their people with offensive remark, I am sure you will be sorry for it. I believe equality is based on respect, which I think you are so ignorant about it. Go back to the topic, what is sarcasm? Only those understood by the Amercians? Do you think you are so smart to understand all kinds of sarcasm in the world with differerent cultural backgrounds? Believe it or not, Chinese has long been famous for its sarcasm as shown in various classic Chinese texts, which I think you are too stupid too understand even if you read the English version. Yes, you are so clever and I hope you will be able to understand what I say here.

Something that appears on a "newspaper" does not automatically mean it is a true fact. Some may be facts and some may be opinions only

But I do like to see those kind of TRANSLATED article. Just treat it as a refreshing BBS posting topic than those Trade, Trade, Bash,Trade, Bash, Trade, Trade threads

Before calling this article a fiction, how many of u actually READ the article? I think coma's translation came from some kind of online translation tool and as coma said it didnt make much sense. So my question for those of u who cant read chinese, what's your evidence to support your conclusion that this article is fact or fiction?

If u read the article yourself, the whole article was the OPINION and OBSERVATION from yang yi. The only so call "insider" information is that: I heard that before today's match, JVG was roaring at the locker room again. YES THAT'S IT. No more information was provided. The author further commented that after each JVG's roar, Rockets would play selfless. That's his opinion. He didnt mention that JVG roared to his guards to pass the ball to Yao. The title of this article in chinese is "No ball movement if JVG wont roar, Yao doesnt know how far would the Great Wall move". So I guess the title of this thread is a bit misleading. Posters of this thread might have over-reacted to this misleding title.

To my fellow chinese posters, from this thread I think we learnt that posting an article without proper translation would unnecessarily stir things up. Maybe we should consider more carefully next time if it's appropriate to post articles here.

I am not sure if I'm too sensitive but I found quite a few insults throwing out towards chinese in this thread. Well maybe it's a joke that I cant get.............

Disclaimer: I'm no qualified translator so the translation may not be 100% correct but I did try my best.

For those insults (sarcasm or not), simply ignore them (most of the posters are probably still in high schools). Don't try to educate them because that should be their parents' job.

You know what? Yeah, that's exactly what I mean. Hell, that's probably the exception that proves the rule.

Do you really want to compare and contrast the journalistic culture/heritage/integrity of a country that has had a free press for hundreds of years and that practically worships free speech vs. that of a totalitarian state that censors its media? That's a pretty easy call to make.

So yeah, I'll take the New York Times, the Houston Chronicle, hell probably even crappy Fox News over the People's Daily, Sohu, and Sina 7 days a week and twice on Sunday as far as journalistic integrity/standards go.

Dragon167: thanks for the clarfication, it makes more sense now.

I did not read all the posts. I hightly doubt about the yanyi guy. He might be some kind of friend of yao but he also needs to make up stories to earn $$$. You dont have news all the time so sometimes BS is all you got.

Stop posting the report from Chinese media!

    Sam,

Since you like talking about this non-basketball related stuff so much and you are so sure about what you are talking about. Can you list, say, 10 false news that are published on People's Daily within the past one year? Then I will list 10 false news reported by Fox news. Can you do that?

Chill buddy, I was simply making light of the fact that absolutely no sense could be made of the thread up until that point. We had an article in Chinese that only a minority percentage could understand, a worthless Babelfish translation and a bunch of jokes referring to both of those facts. So I thought I'd wrap those all together.

In other words, it was sarcasm. Not sure why you didn't pick up on it, but then again, you're Chinese.

    Bam!! Sarcasm AGAIN!

Seriously though, I'm just kidding with you, dawg. You're not likely to find any racists here on this board. The Rockets are black, white, Asian and so are their fans. If we weren't comfortable with that, what's the point of watching the team?

Now let's hope no one has to explain this anymore in this thread.

Surely I know it's another sarcasm. So what? Does this mean that any word or remark can be used whenever you want to be sarcastic or to make a joke, even if you may not have the intention to be offensive? Why do we need rules here in BBS? Can I say whatever I want to say with the golden excuse of simply being sarcastic? The answer is so obvious. I understand your comment is no big deal to most people here, but this can be offensive to some. I just want to make a point as simple as this.

Well, Shrimpie, this is a Rockets basketball related forum so I'm not going to talk about that stuff any further. But if you want to talk about the history of the Chinese media as compared to that of the American media, come on over to the Hangout: D&D forum, I will gladly answer your questions.

Here is my constructive and creative addition to this very fine thread:

Why is this thread so long? Have I missed something important?
