I played the game for about 8 hours last night after work, and so far it's pretty great. I love how you can just walk up to any video game within the game and play it. My CJ currently has maxed out muscles and is wearing heart-covered boxers, cowboy boots, a cowboy hat and a green bandana mask. Only. It makes it nearly impossible to watch the cutscenes without cracking up. The fact that I know I still have so much to look forward to in the game-- namely two more cities, flying jets and helicopters, skydiving-- makes me pretty glad I picked this up. Since I pretty much bought my PS2 specifically for the GTA series, there was never any doubt, really. BTW, I got my copy at Wal-Mart, also.
Got the game at Toys R Us for free yesterday. They have a buy 2 games get 1 free promotion going on, so I picked it up along with Paper Mario and Tales of Symphonia.
Ask one of the ho's. They'll know about that one!!! BTW...that photo, along with your post, is hilarious. I think I'll make sure CJ stays away from that weapon!
Well, I am thinking that Rockstar shouldn't get flak. The videogame industry came up with the ratings system and the game was appropriately rated as an "M", 17+ only. Now the people who should get flak are the stores that sell the rated M games to 10 year olds. I feel pretty strongly about this. If a store was selling Playboy to 13 year olds, they would get busted. But the authorities would rather blame videogames than the stores allowing the adult games to be sold to kids. Rockstar made the adult game, it was labeled as such, and now stores are selling it to kids. I saw that with my own eyes at the store I got GTA:SA from.
I think it's good through this week, but stores are getting wiped out on the good titles. I might go back and pick up a few more titles that I don't care about, and then exchange them for titles like Metroid Prime 2, Gran Turismo 4, or Metal Gear Solid 3 when they come out (did the same thing during the buy 2 get 1 sale last year). The catch on that you can't exchange the title that rings up as free (the third title that is scanned at the register).
I read on the IGN.com boards (and also the Cheapassgamer.com boards, I think) that this year, they aren't allowing this. I think if you got 3 games for $100, they are only giving a $33.33 credit for returning one. I'm sure it varies widely store to store though. I bought 3 games on Sunday, then returned one on Tuesday to get GTA, and when I did, they had to process a return on all 3 games, then put a purchase for the two others and GTA. So I still got it for free, but only because the sale was still on. Not sure how it would have worked otherwise. good luck with it though.
Then I won't bother trying it this year. I already got 3 games that I wanted now. I'm sure Fry's will have a cheap price on the future releases
The Cities (only one for me so far) are so big that it is overwelming at first. I just danced in a club. It was pretty cool, you had to match the butons like in dance revolution. The low rider thing was tight too. Oh, and it is awesome to hear Samuel Jackson in the game....
If I didn't own a PS2 I would buy one just to play this game ~ I bet a lot of people are considering this especially with the new mini PS2 out. Before I get it though I will need to grab a new TV and sound system to maximize the experience...
This has to be the best console game ever. It's so vast....so big and so much to do. The mountains and country side. with hidden lakes etc. Took my guy for a swim up there. Just amamzing looking.
it would be cool if they had some kind of discount for the mini PS2, if you already own the older version.
