I checked out a few big gaming boards and only a few mentioned this strangely. It listed the info for the game and I think it had it somewhere between 2-3 GB. Only problem with that is that the game is on a dual-layered DVD. I guess they could have compressed it big time, but that is one problem I have with this leak. On the other hand, I think I read that the comments on it makes it sound legit, so I don't know. If it is leaked, that does suck, especially with Halo 2 being leaked as well. Big blow for these companies. I really never thought about it, but someone mentioned how it is easier to leak this big games since they are most likely being made in more than one place since they're trying to make enough to sell. With so many places making these big games, it wouldn't be hard for someone to take a copy. Fortunately for Rockstar, at least the game is being released really soon, compared to how long Halo 2 will be released. I know if I was downloading it (not that I would, but if ), it would probably take me a week to finish downloading it anyways.
is leaking a game, atleast a console game, that big of a hit to a company? i mean it can't be as bad as a cd leak which everyone gets a hold of. speaking for myself and any of my friends i know if i had the link to a leaked game i sure wouldn't be able to do anything with it. i think most everybody wants the real thing anyways.
Well it looks like it is legit since Gamespot and IGN are talking about it now, not to mention that Rockstar addressed the issue. The size of the file threw me off and I heard of a rumor of it being leaked a couple of days ago which turned out to be untrue, so I wasn't quite believing it at first. I'm not too sure actually. I'm not that familar with console game leaks, or really that many PC game leaks for that matter. From what I know of it, it seems like the big games are the targets, which usually means that it will still sell well anyways. People who downloaded it will still probably buy it or they downloaded it but weren't going to buy it anyways. Some people actually think that these "leaks" are actually released by the companies themselves to get publicity or something. I read somewhere where it could have been possible that Valve did the little source code theft themselves so that they could use it as an excuse to work on the game more. I personally think that a company would probably not do that, but I guess it is possible. I think it is a little more difficult to play a leaked console game than a PC game. You'd probably have to have a mod chip or something on your console in order to play it and you'll probably have to have a DVD burner. Actually, now that I think about it again, I still wonder about the GTA file size since, if it is >4GB, then that would probably mean that you'd have to burn it to a dual-layed DVD, I guess. Never done this before, but I'm taking guesses from what I've read. I would guess that the average gamer wouldn't bother with it. I know I wouldn't, but then again, I just don't feel like getting into modding my PS2 and then downloading gigs of games just to play them....oh, and it would be illegal too I guess, so that's another reason. Like I said, it helps that the leak is so close to the actual release date. I would be more curious to try out Halo 2 since it doesn't come out until next month instead of trying out GTA which is coming out next week.
Well I am pumped up for this game. It looks amazing. Such big maps, and no load times in between cities. I still play my GTA3 and Vice City pretty often when I am bored.
fyi, anyone interested in picking this up, there's a buy 2 games get 1 free sale at Toys are Us from sunday to saturday. Good for all Xbox, GC, PS2 games, but the free game has to be of equal or lesser value.

They are supposed to, yeah. The deal worked on the new release games last year, so as long as it is in stock, it will apply.
Toys R Us must be selling it. My Amazon order is in the mail and is says it is coming from Toys R Us .com.
IGN and Gamespot have reviews of the game up (I'm not sure how long they've had it up). You can check them out: http://ps2.ign.com/articles/559/559560p1.html http://www.gamespot.com/ps2/action/gta4/review.html IGN gave it a 9.9 and Gamespot gave it a 9.6. I just skimmed over the IGN review, but it sounds like the game lived up to the hype. The IGN reviewer called it the best PS2 game he's ever played. With a game like SA, I was wondering whether or not it would live up to the expectations, but given these two scores, it looks like it could have. Now that it is after 7PM, I wonder how much of vaioavan63 we'll see from now on. BTW, I think tomorrow is GTA day on G4TechTV. It is basically a whole day devoted to GTA. Not sure what they'll do but I believe they've been devoting days to games like this. I want to say they did something similar with Madden and they will do the same with Halo 2. Of course, chances are that most of the GTA fans will be busy playing GTA to bother watching TV, so I wonder if they'll get some pretty low ratings, especially if the regular viewers don't care about GTA.
man, here in College Station the Block Buster says it is available tomrow. The ads on tv say tomorow. BUt places like BB, Target etc. say it's available wednesday....damnit.
"San Andreas draws its inspiration from the ghetto and gangsta struggle films of the early '90s. Movies like Menace II Society and Boyz N the Hood are the clear influences here." ____________________________________________ I loved Menace II Society so much ~ O-Dawg is one of the best characters in a movie ever. CJ = O-Dawg..!? This game makes me feel like a kid (I want to get it so bad). The early 90s music is going to be so much fun to listen to while your cruising around town causing mayhem... Crazy!
