I knew Diaz was going to F this up one way or another. The announcement date and the actual fight date was way too long for my liking. I thought Diaz was going to get in trouble for something out of the cage though. It's a pretty simple concept. Show up to work... do your job... get paid. Obviously Diaz doesn't get it.
While I feel like this statement could be applied to Dana White himself for other things, this is disappointing. It could have been a great fight.
Condit's definitely more deserving of the shot based on his recent run of success, but I would have rather seen Penn get another crack at GSP. Just my personal preference... as Penn's legendary tenure in the UFC winds down, I'd like to see him storm out of the locker room to Israel K. with the belt on the line & that murderous glaze in his eyes. <iframe width="560" height="345" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/SMIbGpVvAtM" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Condit is a bloodthirsty freak in the cage, he is GSP's best challenge at 170. He doesn't care about getting hurt in order to dish pain out himself. He won't be fighting scared like other challengers. I still favor GSP because of his wrestling and submission defense, but anything can happen in this one.
Wait a minute.. something about the sequence of event in this video and what Dana White said in the PC video doesn't add up. In Diaz's video, he is supposedly coming back from San Francisco, where he was to get on a morning flight to go to the PC in Canada. In the UFC PC video, Dana White said Diaz missed the early flight and was rescheduled to fly out later that night. Why does Diaz mention that they gave the fight to Condit if he was suppose to fly out later that night? Looks like Diaz is trying to save face.
That's an awesome fight. I will pay for the card to see that fight. I wouldn't pay to watch GSP wrestle Condit.
Tremendous fight! Both have iron chins, world-class jiu-jitsu, & love to stand and bang. Hopefully BJ's in shape b/c Diaz is one of the most well-conditioned fighters in the game... he does triathlons for fun, and won't hesitate to simply escalate the pace to a level that BJ can't endure. I like The Prodigy by decision.
I guess this is the crazy match that Dana was talking about for Penn. I don't like either of the Diaz brothers, and I do like Penn, but damn if he's not the most frustrating fighter to cheer for. Hopefully he comes in in shape. I want Diaz to lose badly, but I'm going to take him in this one unless Penn comes in with some kind of freakish conditioning. But I'll be cheering for Penn.
These guys are too proud to take it to the ground .I think Diaz will just jab him all night with his long reach advantage and mess up his face. I'm cheering for BJ though.
CAN'T WAIT... <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/0OW2JyQkVgA" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
GSP injured his knee, fight cancelled. http://www.mmafighting.com/2011/10/...off-ufc-137-due-to-injury-penn-vs-diaz-new-m/
Boo! I'm a big GSP fan but I think he's backing out even though he probably could/would fight if it was a lesser opponent but he's doing the right thing by not fighting if he's not 100% because Condit is no joke. I was actually thinking about betting against GSP fully healthy.. as much as it pains me (cause I'm a fan) because Condit is THAT good.
I want GSP to loses but I don't think Condit is the one to do it. It will be GSP smothering him for 5 rounds
OH, ****! Diaz is going to be pushing a crazy pace, hopefully BJ can finish him early. Diaz is a Gracie-trained black belt, so it's going to be VERY difficult to finish this fight on the ground (though BJ's jiu-jitsu is superior). I like Penn via 1st/2nd round TKO.
