He prefers stagnation vs improvement? Rafer Alston and Tracy Mcgrady would have been great for continuity. Not so much for winning basketball games.

CH, i think the perfect marriage is the coach and gm looking and agreeing with the same concepts. Lets not forget adelman kinda wears out his welcome at places. I think him not signing the extension is a power play. He's probably looking at portland as a team with good young talent ready to win right now. I dont think the same can be said with a limited yao. Not only that, allen is the richest owner in sports and will spend.

Was Adelman offered an extension? My understanding is that the Rockets had a team option on his contract for this season (2010-2011) and picked it up.

As far as GM/coach agreeing to the same concepts, sometimes that can be dangerous, particularly when a GM listens to a coach too much and becomes too short-term focused. I don't know if having internal debates and discussions is necessarily a bad thing.

Rafer shouldve been gone after brooks rookie year in my opinion. As I stated yrs back, if hayes, battier, and alston are playing more than 20mins a night, your team isnt going anywhere.

CH, I agree about the coach and gm agreeing too much on things. I also think they have to be in the same thought process. They picked up his option and thats good, but a guy like adelman likes leverage just like any other person.
