Where will he end up coaching next year? Does Houston fire Gary and make a run? I think the likely place is Dallas. He's been one of my favorite coaches for a long time now and I'm interested to see what you guys think,

So Gruden had nothing to do with those good Raiders teams, or the Raiders team that went to the Super Bowl the year after he left with Bill freaking Callahan?
I heard a story on local sports talk radio that Gruden was offered the offensive coordinator position at Oregon, and he wanted to take it to learn Chip Kelly's offense, but his wife nixed the move to Eugene.
I think Gruden ends up in Dallas. When he called the Cowboys MNF game a few weeks back, he was very careful what he said. Jaws rightfully ripped them for being completely out of whack, but Gruden used phrases like "I see that these guys are so close. There are only a play or two away from being a Super Bowl contender." Gruden does tend to be effusive with his praise anyway, but I felt like that was a bit much. He seemed to go out of his way to praise the Cowboys when he had a chance.
If Gruden went to the Cowboys, it would just be yet another groin punch to all Houston fans. Gruden on the Texans would be an absolute dream come true. Not as big of a dream as the Chin, but mighty, mighty close.
Devils advocate, the team was stacked and a lackey like Callahan could take them to the Superbowl. If I remember correctly it was a veteran team with Jerry Rice, Gannon and such and they got old quick. Sorta vague on the details but moe or somebody could go into more detail but that's how I remember it. I do remember TB trading multiple picks for him and they had a stacked roster already they just needed someone to get them over the top. He certainly did and won a SB, but after Dungy's roster aged it went downhill.
Which is exactly what we have here, a very talented roster ... maybe not as stacked as the Bucs were, but we just need someone to get us over the top. Bring in a good GM to handle the personnel and just let Gruden coach. He's proven what he can do with talent. I'm willing to bet we could still finish with 7 to 9 wins under Cowher through the transformation, so we really wouldn't take a step back ... but in the long-run, we could be contenders. At this point I don't care ... I'd be ecstatic with almost anybody, especially Gruden, Cowher, Holmgren, or Dungy.
We would arguably have what the St. Louis Rams had in 2000 with the players Gruden has on offense. He would only need to get the defense to be about average. The fact that they would be mostly playing from up 14-21 points at the half would make them appear better than they really are by making the other team one dimensional. He would have to make a few personell changes on D but other than that would be pretty set from what he has now.
