    ZOLT = future BLUECHIP
It's on low volume shake/accumulation at the moment.

These volatile days are a swing trader's dream.......That said there are also many bargains for the longer haul to be had IMO.

I spend most of my days active/living again.... but days like this make you keep your seat for the whole session. There are lots of opportunities out there. We're all human though,so do your own DD.I'm far from always right.

Case in point..At present I've loaded up on the aforementioned US Steel and IBM with what I believe to be good avg.'s...sub100 on IBM and 97 ish on US Steel plus swing trades mixed in.We'll see what happens from here.

OMT...There are different time frames involved for each trade,so don't hesitate to take profits/don't panic and sell too early/buy when everyone else is freaking out as the media puts the fear of God in them.

Got bumped out on stops with US steel..at 95 and change.

Sold TIE for a little profit.

Putting the motherload into IBM around 99 and the rest of what's left into my position with ZOLT.

This is interesting, I was unaware at all the privatizing going on there. Alot has changed since the military rule ended when what's his name died (forgive me I am a bit ignorant on foreign economics).

If you don't mind me asking, what types of investments have you made over there? I'm a finance major and a young trader interested in long term investments like you have mentioned. Any advice you could share?

What a trading day. Some people made a lot of money on financials today.

My first investment was a mutual fund that is run by one of the country's biggest investment banks, IBTC (www.ibtc.com). I've bought a few stocks since and all of them have appreciated significantly as well -- I actually bought some IBTC when it was around N5 (as of today it's at N22). A lot of the growth is happening in the banking sector and construction/cement. The insurance sector is starting to look really good as well. I'm looking at one chemical company stock right now that has appreciated 372% over the past year (no, that is not a typo).

As far as advice, it's most of the same stuff you probably already know. Try to look up the company's financials and make sure they're sound. There's a ton of info available on IBTC's web site. Don't bother investing in oil or petroleum marketing stocks, those have mostly already peaked and you'll get little or no growth there (and risk of loss especially given the volatility of oil prices).

    Mr.Brightside,
As you may or may not know my Mom passed away tragically 6 years ago.She was a senior analyst in the oil and gas industry with a math degree from UH.For the first year I splashed around within the high volume blues in the IRA's watching stocks trade and learning.I also had a friend that sort of acted as mentor on the technical side.My Mother passed on her aptitudes to me(and I understood cause and effect, had a knack like her),so eventually the innate and technical sort of married and produced some kind of abstract art that I flow with each work day.It was incredibly cathartic in the beginning, but now that I'm through the worst I'm living again which means less time behind the screens.I have this vocation now and on days like the last couple I HAVE to be in position though.Besides I have the ultimate motivation/driving passion for obvious reasons.
So sometimes I might find it difficult to explain what I do and why.You know how it is when if you want the computer can be tossed to the side.Give me CNBC(the crawl) and news for about 15 - 30 minutes and it's easy to pick out stocks being accumulated or that are undervalued...or whatever. (again I've watched my lists for too long so I usually know where they should be and what's going on)I don't mean to come off as arrogant at all.I've just gone with the cards that were dealt. It's just so refreshing when your confidence and life come back together.

    Cheers,
    Doc

Zoltek Shares Fall on Missed 1Q Profit
Tuesday February 12, 10:37 am ET
Zoltek Shares Plunge As 1st-Quarter Profit Misses Wall Street Expectations

ST. LOUIS (AP) -- Zoltek Cos., which makes carbon fibers used in wind turbine blades, car parts and sports equipment, said Tuesday it swung to a first-quarter profit on higher sales.
However, the company missed its own sales prediction and Wall Street profit expectations because of seasonal plant shutdowns and overstocked customer inventories. Its shares plunged in morning trading.

Zoltek earned $2.6 million or 8 cents per share in the fiscal quarter ended Dec. 31, 2007, compared with a loss of $5.7 million or 22 cents per share in the same quarter a year earlier. Excluding costs related to the issuance of convertible debt, net income for the latest quarter was 14 cents per share.

Sales rose to $40.1 million from $30.3 million.

Analysts polled by Thomson Financial expected profit of 24 cents per share on sales of $44.6 million. Analysts typically exclude one-time items.

Zsolt Rumy, Zoltek's chief executive, said management had expected to match fourth-quarter sales of $43.6 million but results were hampered by customer plant shutdowns in Europe over the holiday season and by customer inventory buildups.

Rumy said he was optimistic that Zoltek can reach its sales objectives for 2008.

Zoltek shares fell $5.70 or 17.5 percent to $26.92 in morning trading. They earlier hit a year low of $26.16 after trading in the last year between $26.51 and $51.77.

    Real Shady,

I can tell you what I'm doing.

I first bought back in the mid 26's today and will grab some more depending on the buying and selling patterns over the next 24 hours. The overreaction to the quarterly earnings seems like a good buy in though. There was like 250,000 shares sold earlier, but big buys have come through since. Now the market is up bigtime so be wary of another small drop and if it comes I'm loading up the wagon.I'll be watching all day so if I see the indicators..ie..big buys or sells,I'll keep you abreast of the situation....

Like I said I bought in the mid 26's today and am on it.Anything lower is gravy IMO.

Check out TAOL...It's a penny stock that I've been in and out of for a long time. The tea leaves (buying and selling patterns) say it's about time.

did zolt give guidance? i didn't see it. also, just by glancing at the bloomberg terminal it looks like they have a nice history of missing earnings estimates.

I guess I was off a bit.Sorry Real Shady, but I'm definitely convinced about the longterm success of this company. The entrance could be tomorrow, maybe little longer. The shortterm play off the bottom was there and now that it's dropped to where it has I'm going to follow it down, wait for the giant buy,the crankbank on low volume and then buy.Let some shorts build up.

Right before it went from 20 -50 on the first run, someone bought 1.2 million shares at like 19 or so...They pulled it back to almost 18 on low volume to try to get people's shares...and then the long run occurred.

Sorry to be off on the numbers here Real Shady, but I,like you, believe there is major value down here.

Just too much selling pressure combined with the drop earlier... but, again I'm sold on Zolt not just as a trade or shortterm investm, ent, but as a company who will still be standing tall down the road..

I'm in at sub 26 now (with stops)...They stuck the outperform label on this today so we'll see.

    Did you get in RS?

That big sell has been offset by multiple decent size buys yesterday and today. Now,they've sold into it a bit,but it's holding well with the market dropping back.

Hey Doc. Yes, I opened a small position in ZOLT yesterday towards the close of the market. That was a dramatic sell off yesterday so it did seem like a nice value entry point. Thanks for the insight, and hoping this puppy shoots up from here.

    Nice job RS.

    You called it.

Buying off their earnings seems to be a good proposition.

Now we're both in the same boat......and the tide is rising.

    It's looking pretty good! :D
