NBAtalk has now added a "Shopping Cart":

    The Houston Section:
    Houston Rockets:
In the Shopping Cart: Shandon Anderson, Hakeem Olajuwon
As unthinkable as it might be that the Dream is on the block, he's shown flashes of the old Hakeem that may be enough to get a team desperate for a big man to fork over some talent. Hakeem is in the last year of his deal which means he'd be attractive to a team trying to clear cap room. Shandon Anderson seems to be following the career trajectory of Joe Smith. He signed a small deal hoping for a big payday but with the emergence of Cuttino Mobley, Anderson is expendable. Still the Rockets like Mobley coming off the bench and might be content just to stay put.
Wish List: Help up front and help at the three. What about Juwan Howard for Hakeem? The Wizards get their cap room next year and Howard (who still has a boatload of talent) gets a fresh start.

Before we get into Hakeem and Shandon how bout Juwan Howard...Basically put, would you trade Maurice Taylor AND Shandon Anderson for Howard? That alone is questionable, and by trading Hakeem (cap room) that's what you'd do.

Sending Hakeem to the Wizards? If we were to trade Hakeem, at least let him go out in a good way. With the Wizards? The Wizards?!?!!

Anderson is NOT expendable, he's the only decent backcourt defender we've got.

I *maybe* trade Hakeem for Howard if:
    1. We have Mo and Shandon's word that they will resign
    2. Hakeem for some reason desires to go to Washington. (right.)

Does anyone else think these rumors are overboard? So for all those following at home: This is the thread where you get to bash these stupid Dream rumors, and if you want, Shandy rumors as well. Unless Doc Rocket or opie wants to tell us something [IMG]

    Very overboard.

I don't particularly believe in Howard.

I think either SA or Hak could be traded, but only if they really wanted it, and even then only if it was a good deal for the Rockets.

oh, and if the Wiz-Hak trade were to be carried through, the Rocks should get the Wiz's next five 1st rounders, cuz that deal sucks.

Funny, no one mentioned Juwan is #31 in the league in rebounding!

Ok, so that's a definite plus over Mo!

Actually I have seen and posted this trade on this BBS. The difference being I added Washington's first rounder. I am told that they cannot trade that pick because they traded their pick last year though. [IMG]

NBAtalk has less credibility than Roger Clinton's musical career.

If Hakeem *wants* to go (I wouldn't trade him against his will), I'd send him along for a decent price. But I wouldn't lose sleep over Juwan Howard. Rudy isn't stupid (just not always right, as some would seem to believe).

    Shandon Anderson rocks.

Funny how NBAtalk looks at this from an extremely one sided perspective. The Wizards need cap room but ofcourse the Rockets dont right? The Rockets can just let Shandon and Olajuwon go, have no defense left and pick up a cap albatross in Howard. Why dont we tie up our cap room like the Wizards have done on players like Howard and Strickland so we can sink to the bottom of the NBA overnight?

Horrible Trade. Resign Hakeem, and keep him happy somehow and will be fine. Shandon found his groove the other night and hopefully will keep his game going offensively, defensively he is a jem. Mo seems to be the only player questionable, so any trade that we can make for a power forward BETTER then him, I say we could slap a package of Hakeem and him together ONLY if we get TWO good forwards out of the deal.
