Sure, we do. But we are talking about a growing trend here in France. France's problem isn't going to go away by pointing out that America has some racist rednecks. France has to deal with the problem effectively, not point fingers at other nations.

This really has nothing to do with Israel's policies, considering these Jews live in France, not Israel.

And I'm very unfortunate to say that this solution has a name:Nicolas Sakozy.
Unfortunate because he's dealing with this problem a bit too harshly, using police in a punishing way exculusivly, not it for prevention.

As much as I'd rather not provide any fuel for France-haters here, I have to admit the French have had a problem with anti-semitism for a long time. I don't know if its growing because I doubt it has ever really gone away. I think it flows and ebbs as they have successes and setbacks. But, I think it is wrong to bash the French as anti-semites, especially with the history of racism we've had in our own country and that we still experience today. I think the whole situation in both France and the US is too dynamic to just dismiss as racist.

A la Rockets, I think there may be some confusion as to what you mean by "insecurity." I know we have a language-barrier issue, but I think if you can elaborate on that, your position would be more clear.

Mr. Mooch, I think you make a great case study of the pot calling the kettle black. It might be great fun and a great joke, but there are some things that just aren't joking matters.

Spacecity, well said. I think the comparison of anti-semitic groups in France with white-supremicists in the US is apt. Groups that look to commit racist violence are very much on the fringe in both countries. But they exist in both countries and are growing in both countries. That they exist is a reflection of the country they exist in, but they still don't relect the actual beliefs of the mainstream.

Yeah,ur right(I guess my english isn't as good as I thought it was!).Actually I tryed to find the translation for"insecurité" in english and it was the best I could come up with.
There's a fealing of general insecurity in the country,as the crime rate in going up and ppl see on tv(yeah i know media manipulation) how there's so much pbl in the ghetto.
The agressor mostly accused is a arabic(maghreb),that's why most people associate an arabic with crime.

this is meant as a helpful hint, so don't take it the wrong way.

Stereotyping the Arabs as criminals is considered racist and offensive in the US. You probably didn't mean it, but it came off shaky.

White Supremacist groups are growing in the US? I seriously doubt it.

I don't hate France, I'm just tired of people bashing the US on every single issue. Every country has problems, and every country has to deal with them. It doesn't make sense to point fingers at the US when we are discussing anti-semitism in France.

I am sure France will fix the problem, hopefully they start to fix it before it gets out of hand, since hate like this can grow rapidly. But I don't think France can be compared to Nazi Germany, it's not even close. People who say this are just bashing France unfairly.

Good point about the insecurity. I was reading some articles, and they compared the problems in the ghettos of France with the problems the US had with the ghettos back in the 1970's. France will need some reforms I think, and improve the economy, then more of the people on the fringes can move into the mainstream of France.

I listed examples of generalizations. One being that pro-Arab is automatically anti-jew, the other people beating and yelling dirty jew at one boy, and a third is being angry at France as a whole because of the actions of these few people.

Yeah it's funny that the media didn't quite cover that one so much. But Americans burned down a cleaners owned by a a family from France. There was a link to it in one of the other threads. I'm sorry I can't remember which one or I'd link to it.

If anyone else remembers and feels inclined, feel free to post a link.
