I still think it probably comes from a third team but even so, 2013 is fine by me. Like you said, it also creates room for T-Will so in reality your trading for Thabeet, T-Will and a future 1st rounder for Battier and a protected 1st in 2012.
I doubt it. He would have to learn the "system" and Thabeet is a project. That is what is going to be the most annoying part of this deal.
Thabeet Stats from ESPN at UConn 2008-2009 13.6 PTS 10.8 REB and my Fav 4.2 blks per game here is the link http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/player/profile?playerId=31559 I like projects that produced in College. The expectations for him at Memphis where huge and He just could not handle it. A new team with out the expectations will work and if Hakeem will work with him and the training he will get from Sikma i think it will work out.
If Adelman doesn't play Thabeet and T-Will after this then he has lost his mind. We need to play Thabeet unless they have already decided to pickup his option for 2012.
Depends on what comes with Thabeet. Thabeet doesn't matter to me -- he could be a bag of sand with a $5M contract for next year. It's what else that comes with it that is of value, and then you can take an 18-month low probability flyer on Thabeet. Unfortunately though, I think we may have to lower expectations on what else comes in a deal if the Rockets use this to get under or closer to under the luxury tax.
1st round pick and freeing up a position at the wing is ok. But please, please......let there be a 3rd team involved. Don't want Thabeet!!!! Height important, but not everythng. We don't need a Shawn Bradley--- tall, fouling machine who looks lost on the court. He's got 2 years @~5mil a year!!!! For a project.....?? Not great, but serviceble(upside) young C that we could concievably get for some of our talent or cap relief: Hawes, Speights, R. Lopez, Gortat, Thompson (for the right offer) Or guys like Dalembert if we are just reloading for now. Would rather make no moves, if that is all that is being offered? Isn't this supposed to be a weak draft? Shane not going anywhere, but deserves to be with a contender.
So how exactly is Thabeet gonna see floor time? He has Hayes, Miller, Hill, and Patterson ahead of him.
I kind of hope we get more than Thabeet, but I highly doubt it since Morey has been striking out and everyone knows of his "tactics".
Bring on the young talent and draft picks..people who are upset about the potential deal, think of this way. Realistically what are the chances Battier resigns with a rebuilding team when he could go to a real contender? You can have your own opion, but why not take the no.2 overall draft pick from two yrs ago. He would come in and be our best shot blocker and one of our better rebounders.
I'm no expert but I believe that is why this trade is taking long to finalize. I bet Morey is trying to get Mayo out of them as well.
