Also, can someone explain why Memphis would do this? Do they even have a chance at making the playoffs with Rudy Gay possibly out for the season? Much less contending.
Rockets-Grizzlies discussions on Battier-for-Thabeet plus pick, reported by Commercial-Appeal, "definitely has legs," source in talks says. -WojYahooNBA-
I seem to remember this team winning 22 in a row with a guy with no offensive ability in the middle. With some work with CD on his hook and dream on his footwork, he can develop offense. The thing you can't teach is height
Move should get the Rox under the lux tax. I am more concerned with this pick and its future value. As for Thabeet... don't expect him to be on the floor anytime in the future. He is really really bad right now. Carrol Dawson and Jack Sikma have their work cut out for them with him and Hill.
2 years in the league and his minutes have gone down. Adding Thabeet is a pure play on what potential may still be there. As it stands the guy is a bust, plain and simple. He's got a huge uphill climb to be considered any kind of presence....offensive or defensive.
This is the part that I have to ask.. We all know Jeffries is a serviceable defender in the paint.. Why not use him?
Anytime ur 7'3 and can block shots, theres no way our defense gets worse. Starting chuck@center is not going to get us anywhere
RAGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE WHAT THE F BATTIER FOR THABEET AND A CRAPPY PICK OMG KILL ME NOW THIS IS BS. Yeah, I do not like the idea of trading for just Thabeet. Not to mention, what pick? Memphis doesn't have their first rounder. It belongs to Minnesota.
Battier is beloved both in Memphis and the Grizzlies organization and apparently the Grizzlies are looking to make some noise in the playoffs (good luck with that).
In terms of pure Defense Chuck >>>>> 10x >>>>>>>>>> Thabeet In terms of just a shot blocker Thabeet >/- Chuck
Fantasti move... A potential 7-3, athletic, defensive center and a first round pick... That is a major score for Shane Battier at this point... Who is the starting SF? Chase?
