Or Semih Erden. I really didn't know squat about the guy until I read that Boston was angling to pick up Shane if they could work it out. After watching some highlights, and yes they are just highlights, he looks like a very nice project to take on. A legit 7 footer, fluid on the court for a big man, not a "stick," like Asik, who I also like, can run the court well. We have a history, obviously, with Boston, and Shane would be a huge help to them going into the playoffs. I can't think of another team I'd rather move Battier to, if we have to move him. A contending team, an excellent coach, a very real chance at a title, and the cat that might put them over the top.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if we dealt with the Celtics. Because of the dollars involved, it would have to be Erden-plus, just like the other possibilities being talked about, Asik and Thabeet.

Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. Don't feel the same about Erdin and Asik for some reason. Can't put my finger on it exactly. But I think it has something to do with Asik's aggressiveness to the rim. I guess my instinct tells me Asik has the motor and aggression of a big man on a championship team.

Agree completely. Erden has potential, and I'd love to give Shane a real shot for a title. But we'd need more that Erden.

Agree with you about Asik, the kid has a super solid motor and some natural defensive instincts.

    Draft considerations.

But any deal with Boston including Battier and Erden would be tough to put togehter.

We already have 15 guys on our roster, so we can't receive more players than we send out and unless we want to waive Ish or include him in a deal, it would have to be a 1 for 1 or 1 for 2 type of deal (after we trade Jeffries and cash to the Kings).
Battier makes $7.3mil. Erden makes $470k.
So you basically would have to take on Jermaine O'Neal.

I'd consider a Jeffries type of deal like Battier for Erden, J.O'Neal and Boston's 2014 unprotected/very little protected 1st and the option to swap picks in 2015, though that's probably too much to ask for.

Like a first rounder, say 2014. I watched Erdem in the FIBA world championships, and I liked his play enough to believe he had a future in the NBA.

But really, this is another thread.

For you sorry loving Thabeet lovers this is what you will be saying

    Courtesy of Memphis fans

    1. "Make the deal!!!! When thabeet plays it is really 5 on 4"

    2. "TRIED TO TRADE THABEET TO CLEVELAND FOR HOT DOG NACHOS AND COKE. TRADE WAS TURNED DOWN CAUSE THEY WANTED CASH ALSO!"

    3. "Thabeet won't be going anywhere except for the d league in North Dakota. That guy is so awful he would get sent to the E league if he got to the D league. They would have trouble trading him for a plastic fork."

    4. "Yeah I love of the trade proposal you see in here. It's almost always "Hey if we send off Thabeet and [other under achieving player of the month] we can get this awesome player in return!"

    5. Even if a team thinks they can develop Thabeet, they aren't going to offer anything of value to get him."

    6. "This is really pathetic that the Grizzlies are in this trade predicament. First they should have been smarter in drafting Thabeet. If I recall, it was Heisley that insisted that you can't teach size. How about you can't teach an owner to be an evaluator of talent?"

Oh but he has so much potential... You can't teach Height... We need a Center... Wake up and realize this guy is a bust.... Trade Shane to a team that will give us a legitimate mid 1st rounder..

I'd assume the third team would take on Thabeet and send the Rockets a pick, with Battier going to the Grizzlies.

Hasheem "The Dream" Thabeet?! Oh you gotta be kidding me. Hope Daryl has something else up his sleeve rather than Hasheem Thabeet. Last thing we need is the 'newer generation' of Rockets fans calling this guy "The Dream". I'd probably be disappointed with this trade if it happens.

I might consider taking on Jermaine O'Neal's corpse + player or pick rather than Hasheem Thabeet. Call me crazy  :p
