Scola + Brooks + Yao(Saves $8Mil. on Yao's insurence OR they can choose Battier+Jefferies+Hill instead of Yao) for Randolph + Mayo + Thabeet then we trade NY's 1st pick plus Yao OR Battier+Jefferies+Hill for Wallace+Mohammed Roster to push for 8th seed this year: Mohamed, Hayes, Thabeet Randolph, Patterson, Miller Wallace, Budinger K. Martin, Lee, T-Will K. Lowry, Mayo, Ish I think we can still make the playoff with this lineup and maybe even upset the #1 or #2 seed in first round.
Well how much can you really get for Shane Battier... only people in Houston are fooled when it comes to Battier. The rest of the league knows his limitations and will only deal with Houston based on his limitations without holding him to a higher standard then what he is really worth. In other words the guy can't even dribble we are lucky to be getting anything for this guy at this point in his career.
Keep in mind these are the Maverick's announcers... <iframe title="YouTube video player" width="640" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/HRFftJqL2xk" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> This guy can block shots and rebound very effectively and his offensive game could definitely develop wit CD...Battier is unrestricted after the season anyways... take a chance on the guy...
there is no reason not to do this battier is done here...ya he was a good player and a great guy but ya gotta let go.
Looks pretty solid move-wise, good potential. Battier is pretty worthless. If we don't do this, i'm speechless.
Memphis paper reports "serious discussions" on a Battier-Hasheem Thabeet clutchfans ClutchFans.net Memphis paper reports "serious discussions" on a Battier-Hasheem Thabeet trade but #Rockets want 1st rounder also http://bit.ly/fItTeo Me 2. Thabeet is a massive project, likely bust. Makes $5M nxt yr. MEM has to include a real asset. RT @textocho I'd rather have Dalembert.
Ugh.............. Highlights from one game and only one play really where the game was in question. Garbage time highlights when the game is out of reach doesn't mean anything. Does he have good size? Yes. Does he have decent athleticism? Yes Does he have a brain? Questionable. Does he have a motor? Very questionable. If I were Morey, I'd be holding out for something more than Thabeet. I don't feel like he has shown anything to warrant ever being a lottery pick in the first place. When we played them, him and Jordan Hill looked like two giraffes fighting over a leaf out there. Both of them just looked totally terrible and Thabeet actually played worse than Hill. Could he develop late? I'm sure he could. Could he be a rotation big in the NBA? I'm sure he could. I'm sure he will knock around the league for at least another 5 years or so, because he is 7'3" tall. But he can't hardly get minutes on what has been up until this season, one of the worst teams in the league. I sure hope if we trade for Thabeet that the trade is bigger than just him and we get something else back of value.
I guess I have to wonder about one other thing with Thabeet. Has he mailed it in because he is trying to get traded? Has he had a coaching conflict or something in Memphis that has caused him to look terrible for most of the time he is on the floor? I don't follow them that close. But I have to wonder what is up. And if they actually trade him for Battier and throw in a first rounder with him??? That tells me they want him gone. So, I guess I have to wonder.......is this Memphis being Memphis again and screwing up in their player development??? Both him and Mayo? Just don't know how much of a factor that is.
I'm never one to go big on Youtube highlight videos, but the block at 1.30-1.38 is one of the best I've seen in a long time.
Like I said before, I think Thabeet has the ability to be a dominant rebounder and shotblocker, and even if he never develops offensive skills, those are two things we desperately need. I can't see how adding him hurts the team especially if we get a pick out of the deal as well.
I'm talkin bout value, Battier's contract will expire and he is not worth too much nowadays. People her really overvalue our roster. Trading Bat would give guys like T-Will and C-Bud more minutes, which have far more upside and could help winning games in the future. Plus getting Thabeet fills our lack at Center, he has great potential if we work on his offensive arsenal. All we have to do is give up Battier, who doesn't help this team, so why not do it? There's no risk involved.
It's not garbage time when its the only time you have to prove youve got some skills, when exactly else is he supposed to impress cus he's not getting minutes over Gasol. Does he have a brain?? Have you ever watched any of his interviews, he's very intellectual... answers quickly, doesn't hesitate for 5 minutes or respond with the same answer for every question. Oh and he also speaks 4 languages... Bottom Line.. This guy can lock down the rim as good as any player in this league... <iframe title="YouTube video player" width="640" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/5azYiZKAUhk" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
(2009) That thought was front and center in my mind last weekend when another online “event” took place on a popular Rockets’ message board. Someone started a thread claiming a friend had just informed him that the Memphis Grizzlies’ No.2 pick in the 2009 draft, Hasheem Thabeet, was at a restaurant in downtown Houston dining with, of all people, Rockets’ General Manager Daryl Morey. But wait, the story gets even better. Apparently, this “friend” also happened to overhear Morey telling Thabeet that the rookie center was going to be “a big part of the team,” insinuating that Houston was on the verge of acquiring Thabeet’s services. Not surprisingly, the board subsequently blew up with members weighing in on the validity of the thread and whether or not such an acquisition would be good for the team. And it wasn’t long before various media members began checking in with the club to see if there was any substance to this newfound rumor (obviously, there wasn’t).
I'm not a big fan of Battier unlike you,but I wouldn't do it either. If we were getting Ibaka, then I wouldn't hesitate to go that route.
Hahaha I remember that thread, people were excited about possibly trading for the second overall pick'd player in the 2009 NBA draft. lol I think Thabeet + 1st rounder is a good haul for Battier, who at this point of his career is nothing more than another body to put out the floor.
The difference between Ibaka and Thabeet ... Ibaka isn't on the trading block! No way, OKC gives up Ibaka for scrubs.
