Hopefully Memphis will play Miles during the next 2 games and end this nonsense. I like the Blazers but that letter cannot be rewarded.
I don't think it is a dick move. They are signing a player to a 2nd 10-Day contract to have further evaluation on Miles. (Mind you... he is only 27) They had to release him so his contract doesn't get guaranteed for the rest of the season.
I don't give a sh** for Portland. How many screw jobs have they given within the past years? Imo, they deserve this. Karma is a bi***.
Love the Grizzlies. Plus they suck so there's no way Portland can say they signed him just to screw them over. They need all the help they can get.
This is only Miles's FIRST 10-day contract. The prior deal that the Griz gave Miles was a non-guaranteed full season contract. Teams could only start signing players to 10-day contracts around this week. The Griz will be able to sign Miles to another 10-day contract if he hasn't gotten into two games by the end of the first 10-day contract. Also, it makes the most sense for the Grizzlies to be the team to do this to Portland. Memphis will have substantially salary cap room this summer to add a major free agent. Portland figured to be their principal competitor for many of those free agents. If you were a top free agent, where would you go, if the money was equal? With Miles back on the Blazer's cap, it gives Memphis a major financial edge to offer free agents the most money. The Grizzlies may just prevent the Portland Trailblazers from building a dynasty.
Bibby, Gordon, Andre Miller, Marbury, Kidd, Turkoglu, Marion, and Odom are the big names they could still have money to sign in free agency this year.
This could get interesting for Houston. When Portland loses that cap space (from c.$17M down to $7M) will they make a play for McGrady? LaFrentz's expiring contract gives them one last chance to acquire a third star without completely gutting their roster. Everyone not named Roy or Aldridge is speculated to be fair game for them to achieve that.
Can you say Rudy Fernandez! With Tmac's contract we will be able to get almost anthing we want from them since they will need the cap relief.
